Full Job Description
Role Summary

This role serves as the single point of accountability between USMAPPS and the Oncology Business Unit, owning access strategy, payer marketing, and brand-level contracting and pricing strategy across the full oncology portfolio. The role drives and owns outcomes, integrating all USMAPPS capabilities into one coherent access plan that directly supports the Oncology BU President and franchise leads. The Vice President is expected to operate at full strategic weight, lead a team aligned to oncology brands and franchise clusters, and be the single person the Oncology BU holds accountable for market access results.

The Vice President, US Market Access Lead - Oncology reports directly to the Senior Vice President of US Market Access & Pfizer Patient Services (USMAPPS) with a dotted line to the Oncology BU President. This position requires close partnership with the Oncology BU President, franchise leads, Strategic Contracting & Analytics, Strategic Account Management, the Patient Services, and USMAPPS leadership. The role sits on the Oncology BU leadership team and on the USMAPPS Leadership Team.

Role Responsibilities

1. Oncology Access Strategy Ownership

  • Develop and maintain a fully integrated brand market access plan for all oncology brands, covering payer marketing, contracting strategy, and pricing strategy in one coherent plan

  • Translate portfolio-level access priorities into brand-specific execution plans, ensuring consistency across franchise teams and alignment with enterprise GTN objectives

  • Define payer value propositions, messaging, and positioning for Oncology brands in partnership with access marketing resources

  • Ensure brand-level pricing and contracting strategies optimize net trade sales and gross-to-net outcomes across payer, GPO, and channel

  • Define and monitor access performance metrics at the brand and portfolio level, including access quality, access speed, GTN performance, and launch readiness

  • Ensure LOE assets receive efficient, right-sized access support while growth and launch assets receive differentiated, higher-touch engagement models

  • Periodically reassess and reallocate brand-level resources across the Oncology portfolio based on lifecycle stage, launch timing, and business priority

  • Proactively adjust access plans in response to external environment shifts, including IRA drug pricing dynamics, 340B evolution, PBM-payer consolidation, and formulary changes

2. BU Partnership & Representation

  • Serve as the single point of communication and accountability between USMAPPS and the Oncology BU President and franchise leads for all access, contracting strategy, and payer marketing needs

  • Sit on the Oncology BU leadership team as primary USMAPPS advisor to franchise leads, operating as a strategic partner rather than a transactional interface

  • Represent Oncology BU access needs back into USMAPPS leadership, escalating resource gaps, strategic misalignment, or unresolved cross-functional tensions

  • Partner with Oncology BU franchise leads (e.g., Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Hematology) to understand brand P&L objectives and translate these into specific access, contracting, and payer marketing priorities

  • Flag trade-offs between revenue maximization and GTN discipline to BU and USMAPPS leadership, ensuring enterprise-level decision-making rather than brand-pressure-driven discounting

  • Proactively socialize USMAPPS access capabilities and strategic intent with Oncology BU leadership to build trust and reduce friction at the interface

  • Drive a cultural reset within the BU interface toward proactive cross-functional collaboration, strategic ownership mindset, and enterprise-level decision-making

3. Launch Readiness

  • Own the access chapter of the strategic brand plan for all Oncology pipeline assets, ensuring access strategy is fully integrated into brand planning from early lifecycle stages

  • Identify and close access readiness gaps, including payer coverage, specialty pharmacy pull-through, reimbursement pathways, and formulary positioning, aligned to brand archetype and launch objectives

  • Establish and track launch access KPIs in partnership with Strategic Account Management, brand teams, and customer engagement teams

  • Ensure pipeline assets receive disproportionate resource attention relative to stable or LOE brands as launch windows approach

  • Define 3-year market access plans for pipeline assets, incorporating GTN inputs into long-range financial planning

4. Cross-Functional Orchestration

  • Coordinate all USMAPPS functional support across access marketing, contracting strategy, pharmacy engagement, Strategic Account Management, and Patient Services before engaging the Oncology BU, ensuring the BU receives a single, integrated access perspective

  • Maintain clear ownership accountability for access pull-through at the brand level, ensuring contracted access terms are being converted into actual prescribing by coordinating with Strategic Account Management on execution and flagging gaps to BU leadership

  • Identify and resolve gaps or misalignment across functional teams early, before escalating to functional leaders or the BU President

  • Establish and reinforce ways of working that prevent fragmentation, redundancy, or misaligned seniority across all functions supporting the Oncology BU

  • Serve as a limited and structured interface point for Market Access Operations, primarily on contract execution issues that require brand-level context; day-to-day operations engagement should be minimal and exception-based

5. Team Leadership & Talent

  • Lead and develop a team aligned to Oncology brands and franchise clusters, driving execution through the team while maintaining personal accountability for brand-level access outcomes and deliverables

  • Coach and develop team members to operate as strategic owners with clear accountability for outputs, not coordinators or traffic managers

  • Partner with Oncology BU President and franchise leads to identify strong internal candidates for team roles and pursue external sourcing where internal talent is not available

  • Create clear career development pathways within Oncology, access vertical to build a sustainable talent pipeline within USMAPPS

  • Accountable for coaching, developing, and engaging direct reports, in addition to recruitment and selection of staff

  • Participate as a core member of the USMAPPS Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise strategy and cross-functional alignment

  • Model Pfizer values and leader behaviors

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated brand market access plans, including payer marketing, pricing strategy, and contracting strategy

  • Proven track record of operating at a senior leadership level, with the ability to lead a team, own outcomes, and serve as a credible enterprise partner to senior BU leadership

  • Ability to integrate across multiple functional capabilities (access marketing, contracting, account management, patient services) and present a unified access perspective to the BU

  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen, including the ability to understand brand P&L dynamics and translate them into access investment and GTN trade-off decisions

  • Strong influence and negotiation skills; ability to build trust and drive alignment with senior stakeholders across BU and USMAPPS functions
