Sompo has a unique opportunity for a VP, Underwriting Support Manager in our North America Property Team.

The Underwriting Support Manager will be responsible for managing a team of underwriting support staff, ensuring proper processes and workflows are in place. They will also be responsible for meeting monthly premium bookings and working closely and effectively with various partners such as underwriting, CAT team, centralized support groups, claims and more.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage a team of people managers and underwriting associates which will include hiring, training, mentoring, and managing performance

  • Establish workflows to reduce or eliminate manual processes and gain efficiencies

  • Collaborate with underwriting managers to ensure underwriting teams are providing effective support and address opportunities for improvement

  • Manage processes for internal and external audits

  • Manage monthly premium bookings and overdue premium processes

  • Lead and/or support head count and workload management

  • Identifies and develops operational performance metrics and assists management in reporting on key performance indicators

  • Participate in value stream mapping and other cross functional projects to create process efficiencies

  • Create culture of continuous improvement

  • Perform ad hoc projects as needed

  • Provide backup to other managers as necessary

What you’ll bring:

  • 10 plus years of managerial experience with similar duties

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Extensive experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter

  • Technical capabilities such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently

Salary Range: $155,000-$190,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
