Full Job Description
Position Summary:

Responsible for leading the Performance Improvement Department and advancing system-wide financial and operational improvement initiatives, with direction set in partnership with the Executive Vice President(s). The role supports the identification, prioritization, execution, and sustainment of initiatives that improve operating performance, reduce cost, strengthen margin, and support strategic growth across the health system.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Leads the design and internal build-out of the Performance Improvement Department, including operating model, staffing structure, and methodology, to establish an operational and financial transformation capability across the health system.

2. Aligns performance improvement priorities with system-wide strategic goals, working closely with executive vice presidents to ensure initiatives address the organization's highest-value financial and operational improvement opportunities.

3. Leads performance excellence initiatives spanning cost improvement, revenue growth, productivity, and operational efficiency, balancing near-term financial pressure with longer-term strategic investments.

4. Establishes and maintains program and project governance, including a centralized portfolio tracker, prioritization criteria, financial impact targets, and an intake process for new initiative requests.

5. Quantifies savings and ROI from initiatives, clearly delineating hard savings from soft savings and validates figures with finance partners.

6. Provides subject matter expertise and leading practices across clinical and non-clinical functions to improve productivity, throughput, cost structure, revenue capture, and operational performance.

7. Provides execution discipline to initiatives, holding teams to timelines and milestones, removing barriers, and building monitoring mechanisms so improvements are sustained.

8. Partners with the business intelligence team to build reporting that gives Health System and Subsidiary leadership a clear, consistent view of initiative status, financial impact, operational impact, and barriers to execution.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 15 years of progressive experience in operational and/or financial transformation, management consulting, or healthcare leadership.


Preferred:

  • Prior experience with a top-tier management consulting firm or equivalent internal strategy/transformation leadership role.
