Job DescriptionThe Shareholder Advisory and Activism Defense Team is responsible for advising public company clients' boards and C-Suite executives on a range of complex and high-stakes topics. These include analyzing shareholder bases and investing protocols, supporting strategic dialogue regarding who owns a stock and why, assessing investor reaction to strategic actions (M&A) as well as capital allocation and corporate financial policies, and bringing an analytical lens to shareholder activism and corporate governance. The team works in partnership with coverage bankers across all sectors to deliver differentiated and valuable advice to our clients.
We'll trust you to:- Lead analysis of public company shareholder bases and investor portfolios to identify ownership trends and investment priorities
- Leverage portfolio analytics to assess how investors might react to strategic actions (whether M&A, capital allocation changes or otherwise)
- Provide strategic recommendations regarding shareholder engagement strategies
- Provide insights related to trends in public equity markets and the asset management landscape
- Support activism preparedness and defense assignments
- Oversee the development of compelling and creative presentations for clients
- Lead client engagements on pitches, marketing events and live situations
- Contribute to thought leadership efforts and participate in internal marketing initiatives
- Take a leadership role in publishing topical memos for internal and external client use
- Provide guidance to and supervise Associates and Analysts
You'll need to have:- A minimum of 5 years of meaningful experience in asset management, equity capital markets, equity research, institutional equity sales, shareholder advisory, investor relations or a similar markets-oriented field
- Knowledge of public company ownership and investor priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across interdisciplinary teams and experience levels
- A demonstrated track record of success in a demanding and often stressful environment
- A confident and skilled communication style in both written and verbal format
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on multiple high priority projects simultaneously
- Highly motivated self-starter with intellectual curiosity and ability to think creatively on bespoke projects

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $250,000 - $275,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant's years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard Financial Advisory's compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.
