Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of North American Pensions. Reporting directly to the Head of the Americas Institutional Client Group, this senior leadership role is responsible for developing and growing New York Life Investment's business across all major institutional pension channels including public funds, corporate plan sponsors and Taft Hartley markets. This is a player coach leadership position.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute the North American pension strategy across public and private markets, driving engagement with key prospects and clients spanning public pension funds, corporate retirement plans, and Taft-Hartley plans.
- Manage and deepen relationships with the firm's most strategic pension clients and prospects across North America both personally and in tandem with other members of the team.
- Lead and develop a high-performing North American pension team, providing strategic direction, coaching, and accountability to maximize business development and client outcomes.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with investment leaders, senior business executives, consultant relations, and colleagues across the Institutional Client Group to deliver coordinated client solutions.
- Drive business growth and market leadership by identifying new opportunities, strengthening the firm's market presence, and ensuring consistent execution of strategic initiatives across the North American pension channel.
- Industry Networking: Build and maintain an extensive network of contacts across the North American pensions market and relevant consultant communities to grow the New York Life Investment's brand and a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.Maintain meaningful relationships to stay informed about key trends and industry developments.
- Deliver against key business objectives, including sales growth, revenue generation, profitability, and increased wallet share among both targeted prospective clients and existing client relationships.
Qualifications- 15+ years of progressive experience in the institutional asset management industry, with deep expertise serving the North American pension marketplace, including public pension funds, corporate retirement plans, and Taft-Hartley clients.
- Strong investment acumen across a broad range of public and private asset classes, including fixed income, equities, private equity, private credit, and real estate, with the ability to engage credibly on both domestic and global investment strategies.
- Proven leadership experience recruiting, developing, and managing high-performing institutional sales and relationship management teams, with a track record of building strong cultures and delivering results.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across a complex asset management organization, partnering with investment professionals, senior business leaders, consultant relations, and other key stakeholders to deliver coordinated client solutions.
- Exceptional business development and communication skills, with a proven ability to build executive-level client relationships, identify growth opportunities, and communicate complex investment concepts effectively through compelling written, verbal, and presentation skills to diverse audiences.
This role is pivotal in positioning the firm as a leader in providing innovative investment solutions to the pensions market, ensuring that clients' unique requirements are met with expertise and strategic insight. For the right candidate, this role offers significant opportunities for growth and may serve as part of the firm's long-term senior leadership succession planning, including potential progression to the Deputy Head of Americas Institutional Client Group.

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
