Job Title: Vice President of Human Resources

Position Overview:

Charlestowne Hotels is seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Vice President of Human Resources to lead the company's people function and support the continued growth and complexity of our portfolio.

The VP of HR will oversee human resources strategy, employee relations, compliance, recruiting, benefits, payroll coordination, performance management, leadership development, and HR systems across the home office and managed properties. This role will serve as a key partner to executive leadership, operations, property leaders, and ownership stakeholders, ensuring Charlestowne's people practices are scalable, compliant, consistent, and aligned with the company's culture and business objectives.

The ideal candidate brings strong multi-state HR leadership experience, sound judgment, hospitality or service-sector experience, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution in a fast-moving operating environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead HR strategies, programs, and initiatives that support Charlestowne's business goals, operating model, and continued growth.
  • Provide executive-level oversight of HR practices across the home office and managed properties, ensuring consistency while recognizing the unique needs of individual hotels and markets.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, operations leaders, and property teams on employee relations, organizational structure, workforce planning, compliance, and people strategy.
  • Lead employee relations strategy, including investigations, conflict resolution, documentation standards, corrective action practices, and escalation protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across all jurisdictions where Charlestowne operates, including wage and hour, leave administration, workplace safety, employment practices, pay transparency, and other evolving requirements.
  • Oversee talent acquisition strategy in partnership with the Corporate Recruiting Manager, with a focus on leadership pipeline development, hard-to-fill roles, recruiting process consistency, and employer brand.
  • Support succession planning, leadership development, onboarding, and training initiatives that strengthen property-level and home office leadership capability.
  • Oversee performance management processes that drive accountability, support employee development, and reinforce high performance across the organization.
  • Partner with leadership on compensation practices, incentive plans, job structure, pay equity, and market competitiveness.
  • Lead HR systems strategy, data integrity, reporting, and people analytics to support informed decision-making and improved visibility into workforce trends.
  • Oversee benefits, payroll coordination, employee records, HR policies, handbooks, and related administrative practices.
  • Evaluate and improve HR processes, tools, and resources to better support managers, employees, and property teams.
  • Manage the HR department budget and oversee the work of the HR team, including the Corporate Director of Human Resources, Corporate Human Resource Manager, Corporate Recruiting Manager, and Corporate Payroll & Benefits Administrator.


Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Vice President of Human Resources, senior HR leader, or similar role, preferably in hospitality, hotel management, restaurants, retail, or another multi-unit service environment.
  • Experience supporting a multi-state workforce with decentralized operations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, employee relations, wage and hour practices, leave administration, and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading HR strategy while remaining comfortable with hands-on execution when needed.
  • Experience overseeing recruiting, employee relations, performance management, benefits, payroll-related processes, HR systems, and leadership development.
