What you will do

As Vice President, you will own the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and evaluating opportunities to executing transactions and driving post-close value creation. You will also play a key role in developing team members, leading firm initiatives and representing Novacap externally with management teams, advisors and investors.

Main responsibilities

Investment execution

  • Lead end-to-end transaction execution, including strategic, operational and financial due diligence.
  • Build investment theses and structure deals to align with strategic objectives.
  • Lead deal negotiations with management teams, shareholders and third parties.
  • Present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee with confidence and clarity.
  • Coordinate third-party advisors (legal, financial, industry and others) and internal deal teams.
  • Raise debt and equity capital, and manage transaction documentation.
  • Support deal sourcing and portfolio construction in collaboration with senior partners.

Portfolio management

  • Sit on portfolio company boards and act as a trusted partner to C-level executives.
  • Support strategic planning, value creation initiatives and operational performance tracking.
  • Lead or support key transactions within portfolio companies, such as add-ons, refinancings and exits.
  • Evaluate and manage risk, and provide guidance on the recruitment of key executives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across portfolio sectors.

Team leadership & mentorship

  • Manage and coach junior colleagues across deal workstreams.
  • Provide training, feedback and career development guidance.

  • Represent Novacap externally with co-investors, intermediaries and limited partners.

  • Seven to ten years of experience in private equity, investment banking, venture capital or mergers and acquisitions.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics or engineering; an MBA, CFA, CPA or CAIA designation is an asset.

  • Strong investment judgment, with the ability to develop and defend investment theses.
  • Experience managing cross-functional deal teams and external advisors.
