Position Overview

Aquarian Holdings is seeking a Vice President to join its Macro & Market Research team. Reporting to the Head of Macro Research, this individual will be responsible for conducting market and macroeconomic research, analyzing equity and credit market developments, and producing recurring thought leadership pieces on economic and market trends.

The ideal candidate will bring experience from a sell-side research platform, strategy team, or markets desk and possess a strong understanding of fixed income markets, credit products, and the broader macroeconomic landscape. This individual should be a skilled writer who can synthesize complex market developments into thoughtful, well-articulated research and market commentary.

Working closely with investment professionals across the firm, the successful candidate will help identify emerging themes, evaluate market developments, and contribute research that supports investment decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market & Macro Research
    • Monitor and analyze equity, credit, currency and other macroeconomic developments across global markets to inform Aquarian investment teams.
    • Track economic data releases, central bank policy, market positioning, and broader macro market trends.
    • Conduct thematic research on topics relevant to Aquarian's investment activities.
    • Identify emerging market risks and opportunities through both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
    • Develop views on market developments and synthesize findings into actionable research.
    • Mentor and develop junior analyst.
  • Thought Leadership
    • Produce recurring market commentary and macroeconomic thought pieces.
    • Author research reports and thematic analyses on topics impacting global equity, credit, and currency markets.
    • Translate market developments and economic trends into clear, concise written insights.
    • Collaborate with investment teams to develop research pieces on themes relevant to portfolio positioning and investment opportunities.
  • Investment Team Partnership
    • Serve as a research resource for investment professionals across the firm.
    • Participate in discussions surrounding market developments and investment themes.
    • Support investment teams through data analysis, market research, and thematic workstreams.
    • Contribute independent perspectives on macroeconomic and market developments.

Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in sell-side research, fixed income strategy, macro strategy, or a related markets-focused role.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income markets and macroeconomic trends.
  • Demonstrated experience producing written market research and commentary.
  • Ability to analyze economic and market data and form independent conclusions.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel and market data platform proficiency (Bloomberg, FactSet, or similar).
  • Bachelor's degree required; CFA designation or progress toward CFA is a plus.
