Job Brief

The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible and accountable for the design, delivery and effective execution of the Dyno Nobel Americas HR strategy, systems, and services.

What You'll Do

As the Vice President of Human Resources - Dyno Nobel Americas (DNA), you will be accountable for designing, delivering, and effectively executing the DNA HR strategy, systems, and services across the North American business. You will: continuously improve people systems and processes and the way employees interact with them; build the human capital capability of the DNA business to create competitive advantage through our people; and build and maintain long-term partnerships with key stakeholders that foster open and honest discussion. More specifically, your accountabilities will include:
  • Overall leadership of the DNA HR team and related activities
  • Delivery of HR-related service level agreements and goals to achieve superior performance
  • Execution of DNA HR strategic action plans
  • Effective implementation and application of HR policies, procedures, initiatives, and processes
  • Responsibility for providing high-quality and cost-effective HR services including:
    • Employee lifecycle - talent acquisition, onboarding and offboarding, secondments, transfers and promotions
    • Benefits management - balancing company and employee expectations, benchmarking, cost control
    • Performance and reward - performance management, remuneration
    • Employee and industrial relations
    • Payroll - accurate data input, collaboration in improvement activities
    • Learning and development - advancing global and regional programs in compliance and technical training, employee development
    • Organizational development - delivering targeted outcomes in talent and succession, employee and leadership development, employee engagement, culture, mergers and acquisitions
  • Providing due diligence and integration support for acquisitions in North America and globally, as needed
  • Internal key relationships include: Chief People Officer; President DNA; Americas Leadership Team (ALT); and functional leadership
  • External key relationships include: Government agencies / regulatory authorities; industry bodies; customers; suppliers; contractors; joint venture partners; and consultants

We're Looking For:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in HR management, organizational development, psychology, or a related field
  • 10+ years of business experience in leading integrated and related HR functions
  • Advanced training and experience in labor law and employee relations
  • Demonstrated experience across the employee lifecycle, performance and reward, employee relations, learning and development, DEI, and organizational development
  • Advanced capability in change leadership
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to align culture and values, including communication, teamwork, empowerment, delegation, role clarity, information sharing, accountability, colleague relations, conflict resolution, and leading effectively at all levels
  • Strategy development and execution via strategic action plans
  • Project and change management
  • Internal processes, including process improvement, strategy execution, lean methodologies, production, and teaming
  • Financial understanding, including DNA financial processes, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Business acumen (knowledge of the global marketplace and understanding of other business units and markets)
  • Customer focus (skill in all aspects of building strong internal and external client relationships)
  • Continuous improvement / innovation (process improvement / efficiencies, loss control, cost reduction)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
