Full Job Description
Position Title: Vice President Engineering

Location: Irvine, CA
Work Arrangement: On-site

Position Summary
  • Lead and inspire a functional engineering team solving some of the most important problems the DoW has today.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
  • Work with senior leadership to develop long term resource plans and financial plans.
  • Partner closely with the business lines on resource planning, program scope, scheduling, and execution.
  • Own engineering process development training and enforcement that drive culture and technical excellence in all phases of development through sustainment
  • Establish and maintain a design standard that includes a library of standards, allowable, and tool sets to build upon.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of the "why" behind systems design
  • Experience creating teams and focusing them around a common vision
  • Experience driving teams when scrappy innovation is expected and when mission critical quality is required
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members and a track record of creating and maintaining a high-performing engineering culture.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance technical innovation with business priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and align with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience sustaining, troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed systems
  • Experience in the leading development of engineering program plans, to assure complete integration of all product interfaces and internal disciplines, as well as plan execution.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 15+ years' experience in aerospace and defense or vehicle system development
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior role leading DoD program from initial concept through test and delivery to customers

Clearance Level Required: No Security Clearance is required, but it is highly desired.

Export Control / ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to information and technology subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms

Work Authorization Requirement:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Travel Required: Up to 10%

Physical Demands:
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
  • Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, and lift a minimum of 35-50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and worksites to facilitate work.

Salary: $220,000 - $280,000 annually

Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
