Lead the Future of Senior Living Development

We9re seeking an accomplished Vice President of Development, Design & Construction to provide strategic leadership for our enterprise-wide capital development program. This executive will lead the planning, design, redevelopment, renovation, and construction of complex projects across our national portfolio while serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, executive leadership team, and community leaders.

Experience leading development and construction within Life Plan Communities (CCRCs) or comparable entrance-fee senior living organizations is highly preferred. The ideal candidate understands the unique operational, financial, regulatory, and resident experience considerations involved in redeveloping occupied senior living campuses and has successfully delivered complex capital projects in environments similar to Lifespace Communities.

What You9ll Do
  • Lead enterprise capital planning, redevelopment, renovation, and new development initiatives across multiple communities.
  • Serve as the owner9s representative for major capital projects from planning through occupancy.
  • Develop and execute long-term capital improvement and campus master plans aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Direct architects, developers, engineers, consultants, contractors, and project management teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee multimillion-dollar capital budgets, project schedules, contract negotiations, construction administration, and project performance.
  • Lead master planning, feasibility studies, site selection, entitlement, permitting, and zoning activities.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise design standards that promote quality, innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with executive leadership and community operations to prioritize investments that enhance resident experience and organizational performance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements and Lifespace quality standards.
  • Drive strategic redevelopment initiatives that position Lifespace communities for long-term success and growth.


What You Bring
  • Bachelor9s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate Development, or a related field.
  • Master9s degree preferred.
  • Architectural degree or professional architectural experience is a plus.
  • 15+ years of executive leadership experience overseeing large-scale capital development, design, construction, redevelopment, or facilities programs.
  • Proven success leading multimillion-dollar redevelopment and construction projects across multiple locations.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, life safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and capital project delivery.

Preferred Experience
  • Executive leadership experience with Life Plan Communities (CCRCs), entrance-fee retirement communities, or nonprofit senior living organizations comparable to Lifespace Communities.
  • Experience leading redevelopment or expansion projects on occupied senior living campuses while minimizing disruption to residents and operations.
  • Deep understanding of the unique planning, design, hospitality, healthcare, and resident experience requirements of premier senior living communities.
