The Opportunity

HSBC Innovation Banking provides debt solutions to early stage, high growth and public companies across healthcare, life sciences and technology. This Vice President role sits within a lean team and plays a key part in how we diligence, structure and manage debt transactions across the Innovation Banking portfolio. You'll partner closely with clients and internal stakeholders and present clear portfolio and performance insights to senior credit approvers. The focus is on disciplined underwriting, thoughtful structuring and active portfolio oversight that protects credit quality while supporting client growth. Success means progressing transactions with rigor and pace, maintaining strong client relationships and keeping the portfolio well managed and well understood.

What you'll be doing
  • Build and maintain relationships with debt clients and prospects
  • Own the due diligence process across new and existing opportunities
  • Shape deal structures and underwriting materials for debt transactions
  • Establish a portfolio management framework with timely performance reviews for senior credit approvers
  • Manage proactive portfolio activity to support credit quality and profitability targets
  • Monitor market and sector trends and build product and sub-sector knowledge
  • Coach and mentor team members as part of day-to-day execution
  • Develop a firm understanding of HSBC's banking products and markets


What we're looking for
  • Bring extensive debt underwriting experience with healthcare, life sciences and technology companies ideally within a venture debt lender or fund environment
