Full Job Description
The Vice President, Chemicals Coverage role is responsible for the coverage of our existing Global Corporates ("GB") relationships, primarily chemicals corporates within HSBC's Energy, Materials, and Power (EMP) group. The position will be responsible for the creation of sector-based content to drive presentations and dialogue with GB clients and to provide support to clients on related transactions. The candidate would be expected to establish a holistic understanding of clients' needs and to deliver innovative, high-value solutions across all product lines, gaining significant business and sustainable returns for the Group.

As our Vice President, Chemicals Coverage, you will:
  • Develop and maintain a 'trusted advisor' relationship and access at key decision-maker level for assigned current and target clients
  • Support senior bankers in the delivery of the Bank to existing clients and prospects
  • Work to reposition the firm to higher-value strategic solicitation, enhancing the perception of the Bank among its existing and prospective clients
  • Coordinate origination and execution of 'event-driven' or major 'significant flow' business
  • Build the Global Corporates franchise value/reputation in the marketplace
  • Drive achievement against targets for revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction, and cost management
  • Establish and maintain networks for cooperation with other HSBC businesses, to support the creation of solutions to customer needs that span geographic/product boundaries and regulatory environments
  • Aggressively grow HSBC's share of client wallet, involving product specialists to ensure product capabilities are in line with client/sector requirements
  • Manage deal and execution teams established for client transactions and ensure that deals are completed both in a timely and effective manner
  • Support the implementation of major change initiatives within Global Corporates and HSBC
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the sustainable growth of the Global Corporates segment


You'll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
  • Track record of building and developing relationships at CFO/Treasurer/Treasury team level
  • Ability to develop a strategic dialogue with clients
  • Progressive investment banking, corporate banking, consulting, or sector experience
  • A deep understanding of corporate finance
  • Proven record of leading and motivating deal teams
  • Excellent knowledge of HSBC Group and products, and a strong network of contacts across all business areas
  • Proven record of proactively originating and executing event-driven business
  • Strong interpersonal and personal effectiveness skills
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Global Corporates to achieve collective sector and CIB goals
  • Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles
  • Share knowledge and ideas to enhance client dialogue and team performance
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and perform to the highest standards
  • Take an active role in initiatives outside of own role; proactively seeking different assignments to accelerate development
  • FINRA Series 79, 63, and 7 licenses are required in the role. A contingency period to obtain licensing can be provided at manager's discretion


Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
