POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a mid-level accounting professional to lead the conversion of our existing cash-basis books to GAAP/Tax-compliant financials and to manage ongoing GAAP/Tax accounting operations. This role is central to our financial infrastructure and will work closely with senior accounting leadership, and external tax advisors to research and implement authoritative guidance on GAAP/Tax matters. This position reports directly to the Director of Accounting/Controller.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

GAAP Conversion & Implementation
• Lead end-to-end conversion of cash-basis accounting records to accrual-basis GAAP/Tax financials, including restatement of historical periods as applicable.
• Establish and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls consistent with GAAP/Tax requirements, including balance sheet account reconciliations, prepaid and accrual schedules, etc.
• Work with Finance stakeholders to Identify and resolve differences between cash and accrual treatments across revenue recognition, compensation, deferred items, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and fixed assets.
• Coordinate internally and with outside tax consultants to support the tax return preparation process.

Ongoing GAAP Accounting & Tax Compliance
• Oversee and participate in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and assisting the Controller as needed.
• Work with established Cash Accountants to determine necessary Cash Basis to GAAP/Tax adjustments needed for GAAP/Tax compliant books.
• Work with the Finance stakeholders to serve as liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Manage tax provision calculations and coordinate with CPA firm on federal, state, and local tax filings.
• Monitor changes in GAAP standards and tax regulations and assess impact on the organization.

Special Projects
• Support financial due diligence, audits, or financing transactions as needed.
• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of accounting systems, ERP upgrades, or automation tools.
• Develop management reporting frameworks and KPI dashboards for senior leadership.
• Participate in strategic planning and ad hoc financial analysis as directed.
SUPERVISION
• Directly supervises at least one accounting professional; responsible for day-to-day guidance, work review, and professional development of that staff member.
QUALIFICATIONS
• CPA designation preferred; bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5-8 years of progressive US GAAP accounting experience; a combination of public accounting and private industry strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with researching and applying U.S. GAAP to transactions and financial reporting.
• Partnership income tax experience helpful.
• Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite preferred); advanced Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

The compensation for this role is market competitive with a base salary range of $150,000-$180,000. We intend to offer the selected candidate a base salary within this range, based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill set, job-related experience, and location.
