Full Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience in qualitative research and mixed methods research methodologies.
  • Experience communicating research and concepts to cross-functional audiences.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Centered Design/HCI, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior, research or related program.
  • Experience designing and leading robust research projects collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to elicit product questions and inform research roadmaps.
  • Experience designing presentations and a variety of deliverables based on research findings and insights, such as personas or user journeys.
  • Experience communicating complex concepts clearly and persuasively to different audiences and organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with a range of methodologies including, but not limited to, one-on-one interviews, diary studies and surveys.


About the job

You'll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools.

We help users enjoy more helpful personalized experiences across products by strengthening their Google Identity, collaborating across Google to design cohesive foundational experiences that foster a healthy and engaging ecosystem. Our work in 'serving lifelong needs' focuses on precisely meeting our users' lifelong needs, connecting multiple accounts where appropriate, forming a holistic user identity.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
