UX Designer - Hybrid, Cary, North Carolina
About the job
The Core UI design team within the R&D Foundation Division is looking for a UX Designer to help shape the shared application experiences that power SAS platforms and applications. These experiences form the backbone of how users navigate, manage, and interact with SAS solutions—supporting onboarding, system administration, and cross-application workflows.
You will play a key role in designing cohesive, scalable experiences across shared applications such as system management, data access, and content workflows. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of complex problem spaces and help guide design direction across teams.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Design partners to bring clarity, consistency, and usability to foundational platform experiences.
As a UX Designer, you will:
- Design intuitive, user-centered, end-to-end experiences that seamlessly integrate AI capabilities (e.g. recommendations, generative features, administrative tools, system workflows, and cross-product interactions)
- Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively
- Help define and scale reusable patterns and interaction models that support consistency across SAS products
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align on priorities, refine requirements, and ensure high-quality delivery
- Conduct and apply user research, usability testing, and feedback to inform design decisions
- Contribute to and leverage the SAS Filament Design System to ensure scalable, consistent design solutions
- Collaborate with accessibility experts to ensure inclusive and usable experiences
- Collaborate with engineering teams on React-based front-end applications
- Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in User Experience (UX), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interactive Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in UX design, product design, or related field
- Experience designing complex systems or enterprise applications (e.g., admin tools, dashboards, workflow-driven products)
- Strong interaction design skills across multi-step workflows and cross-product experiences
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Experience working with or contributing to design systems and reusable components
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver user-centered solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and influence outcomes
- Online portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work (research, workflows, prototypes, and shipped solutions)
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
