Description:

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a User Experience Designer 2 to support the research, design, and delivery of intuitive user experiences for mission-driven applications, tools, and systems. This role focuses on gathering user insights, conducting research activities, creating visual designs and prototypes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve usability and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate combines strong user research skills with a user-centered design mindset and thrives in agile, fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct user research activities including interviews, usability testing, contextual inquiries, surveys, and observational studies.
  • Collect, document, and organize qualitative and quantitative research data to identify user behaviors, needs, and pain points.
  • Support the UX Lead in executing research plans, discussion guides, screeners, and testing protocols.
  • Translate user insights into wireframes, mockups, storyboards, interaction flows, and interface designs.
  • Create and iterate on design solutions through rapid prototyping and user feedback.
  • Develop visual designs, interface guidelines, and user experience recommendations that align with product goals and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, developers, engineers, and stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Review implemented solutions to ensure adherence to design standards and user experience best practices.
  • Communicate research findings, design decisions, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support multiple teams in conducting user experience research and optimization efforts within agile development environments.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, User Experience Design, or a related field; four (4) additional years of relevant UX experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Ten (10) years of User Experience Design experience, including at least five (5) years leading project lifecycle design efforts from requirements gathering through customer presentation and implementation.
  • Experience conducting user research activities such as usability testing, user interviews, contextual inquiries, surveys, card sorting, and other qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Proficiency with UX design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Axure, Visio, PowerPoint, Adobe XD, or similar) and the ability to create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and visual design artifacts.
