Your Key Responsibilities As a Tax Technical Analyst within the Rewards practice, you will work with global clients to understand and address some of their largest and most complex people-related challenges and ultimately improve and drive sustainable business results.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing relevant and flexible tax-compliant compensation, benefit and incentive approaches for clients, including:
- Advising clients on regulatory matters and the taxation of compensation and benefit programs, including U.S. and global programs.
- Benchmarking and designing executive and broad-based compensation and benefit arrangements.
- Supporting clients in complex transactions (mergers, acquisitions and divestitures), including:
- Conducting financial due diligence on HR, compensation and benefit programs.
- Identifying tax, financial, and regulatory risks related to compensation and benefits and a target company's broader HR function.
- Performing golden parachute / Section 280G calculations in connection with transactions.
- Advising on the tax and financial implications and executive compensation broad-based arrangements, including drafting technical memorandums and opinions addressing various Internal Revenue Code Sections, including, but not limited to, 83, 162(m), 280G, and 409A.
- Providing support to EY's Tax, Assurance and Consulting functions as compensation and benefits subject matter resource.
Skills and attributes for success To qualify for the role, you must have: - A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Economics, Finance, or Industrial Relations or related field, supported by a strong academic record.
- 3.0 cumulative college/university GPA.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong quantitative acumen, including outstanding analytical ability.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
- An interest working in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
- Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
- The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs
- You must reside within a commutable distance of the office location associated with this position.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future.
Ideally, you will have: - Cumulative college/university GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Proficiency in MS Office, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Effective project management skills, including effective organization and time management skills with ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
- Strong follow-through skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of how to leverage firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $82,000 - $94,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
