What you'll do...
Role summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer (Back End) you are responsible for developing high performance and scalable Omni Catalog Service that meet the needs of millions of Sam's Club customers. Design and develop integrations with next generation downstream application that is built largely on an event driven platform implemented via a micro-service architecture. We are looking to bring more intellectually curious engineers who are passionate about technology in general.

About the team:

Our Catalog Engineering team has built a highly scalable Omni Catalog Service. You will work on NextGen upstream integration, catalog migration to a new platform, and develop highly scalable catalog micro services. You'll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of this fast-moving and highly entrepreneurial team, you'll be able to say that you work for the world's largest retailer and contribute to innovation and development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.
What you'll do:
  • Design & develop highly scalable services and solve complex software systems problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology.
  • Gain exposure to various emerging technologies used in Advertising and E-commerce platforms.
  • Provide technical direction, architecture leadership and expertise to the team.
  • Lead by example. Show your chops as an exceptional and experienced developer.
  • Drive projects of high visibility across the organization.

Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project, product and business requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirement); designing robust and scalable architectures; writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status
What you'll bring:
  • Hands on development on building n-tier applications using RESTful Services, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, Python, NoSql.
  • Working knowledge of one or more cloud technologies such as AZURE, GCP, OpenStack
  • Experience in internet-scale distributed technologies (e.g. Solr, Kafka, Mem Cache, etc.)
  • Relevant experience with relational and no-sql databases
  • Advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong expertise in designing and building APIs. Strong Expertise in Java, Scala, Object Oriented & Functional Programming, Design Patterns
  • Experience in all areas of engineering including DevOps, Chaos Engineering, SRE, and on-call rotations to assure service availability and operational excellence.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
