Join Hiscox's Claims Vendor Management team. A designated Group "Centre of Excellence"-an international team of professionals spanning five countries, empowered to build and run the vendor network that underpins the global claims community at Hiscox.
The Role:The US Claims Vendor Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing; oversight, performance management and continuous improvement of external claims vendors supporting the US claims operation. The role ensures vendors deliver high-quality, cost-effective and compliant services aligned to business strategy, regulatory requirements and customer outcomes.
About the Vendor Management Team:The team reports into the Group Claims Director in London and works in partnership with Claims leaders and operational teams around the world to ensure our vendor partners deliver consistent, high-quality, compliant and cost-effective outcomes for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:Vendor strategy & governance:- Own the end-to-end sourcing and management of assigned US claims vendors (e.g., TPAs, panel law firms, adjusters, other experts).
- Develop and execute vendor strategies aligned to claims, financial and customer objectives.
- Lead on due diligence/data security capture and contractual governance, including SLAs, KPIs, fee structures and service standards.
- Ensure vendors comply with regulatory, legal, data protection and internal Group and US risk standards.
Performance & Cost Management:- Monitor vendor performance using MI, audits and outcome metrics (e.g., cycle times, indemnity spend, leakage, customer outcomes).
- Drive continuous improvement plans to address underperformance or emerging risks.
- Identify and deliver claims cost savings, efficiency gains and value-add initiatives.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and expense management related to vendor spend.
Claims & Technical Oversight:- Act as a subject-matter partner to US Claims leadership on vendor capability, coverage expertise and market trends.
- Ensure vendors demonstrate strong technical handling across relevant US product lines (e.g., Financial Lines, Professional Liability, Cyber, Casualty).
- Support complex claim escalations, remediation activity and root-cause analysis where vendor performance is a factor.
Stakeholder Management:- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Claims, Underwriting, Legal, Finance, and Compliance.
- Act as a key point of contact between the US claims function and external vendors.
- Contribute to claims transformation, insourcing/outsourcing and operating model change initiatives.
Risk, Control & Compliance:- Ensure effective controls around vendor selection, onboarding, oversight and termination.
- Support internal audits, regulatory reviews and risk assessments relating to claims vendors.
- Escalate material risks, issues or breaches promptly and appropriately.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:Essential:- Significant experience within US insurance claims, vendor management, procurement, or related operational roles.
- Strong understanding of the US insurance market, claims lifecycle and regulatory environment.
- Experience managing TPAs, panel law firms, adjusters and/or other claims service providers.
- Proven ability to analyse claims data/MI to drive performance, quality and cost outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, including the ability to operate confidently with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable:- Claims handling background or deep technical claims expertise in complex product lines.
- Qualifications: JD - Law Degree and/or CPSM (ISM); B.A Business degree preferable
- Experience supporting claims transformation, vendor rationalisation, insourcing initiatives and/or operating model change.
- Familiarity with US litigation practices, defence strategies and fee arrangements.
- Professional claims qualification and/or relevant legal/insurance certification.

**This position is hybrid and requires two (2) days in our office weekly if the candidate is near one of the locations listed**Salary Range: $100-$140kThe actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
