We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Upstream Planning Manager to lead and standardize planning processes across critical suppliers and categories in North America. This role is pivotal in strengthening vendor supply reliability, improving upstream alignment, and optimizing inventory to ensure business continuity and outstanding customer service. As the UPM, you will drive cross-functional collaboration, lead long-range materials planning strategy, and implement best-in-class practices that elevate supply performance across the region.
What will you do?
Supplier Readiness & Inbound Flow Management
• Ensure key suppliers within scope are fully prepared to meet Schneider Electric's demand and capacity requirements.
• Develop and execute upstream planning levers that drive supplier stability and minimize constraints.
• Implement structured processes to monitor, analyze, and improve monthly supplier forecast accuracy and bias.
Upstream Planning Strategy & Standardization
• Lead the development of long- and mid-range upstream materials planning policies, programs, and processes.
• Drive harmonized planning standards across critical suppliers, enabling end to end upstream visibility and consistency.
• Partner with Procurement to create and execute joint plans that enhance supplier performance and long-term planning
Continuous Improvement of Inbound Supply
• Lead improvement initiatives that optimize flow, reduce shortages, and improve lead time stability.
Examples include:
o Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs
o Upstream Flow Optimization (UFO)
o Consignment models
o Quick ship or accelerated supply flows from suppliers
Supplier Performance & KPIs
• Own and manage supplier performance scorecards for upstream planning metrics.
• Drive improvement in key upstream KPIs, such as:
o Supplier On-Time Delivery (S OTD)
o Unconfirmed Backorders (UBOL)
o PO Confirmation performance
o ASN compliance
o Forecast acknowledgments and commitments
Escalation & Risk Mitigation (Upstream-Focused)
• Ensure compliance to and enhance upstream supplier escalation process for North America.
• In severe shortage scenarios, coordinate with plant upstream planners to establish task forces and protect customer supply.
• Proactively identify upstream risks and implement mitigation strategies before they affect plant operations.
Cross-Functional Upstream Collaboration
• Serve as the central connector between Upstream Planning, Procurement, and plant-level material planning teams.
• Regularly engage senior leadership with updates on supplier constraints, upstream risks, and performance trends.

Experience
• 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain Planning or related functions such as Supplier Management, SIOP, S&OP, Integrated Business Planning, Demand Planning, Procurement, Operations, Inventory Management, or Capacity Management.

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 117,600 - USD 176,400 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
