Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Unified Communications Engineer to architect, design, validate, and support the U.S. Marine Corps' global Unified Communications environment, which supports more than 180,000 users worldwide. This role provides enterprise level technical leadership, defines the technology roadmap, and partners with cross functional teams to ensure mission critical voice and collaboration services remain highly available, secure, and scalable.

This engineer will serve as a key contributor in designing UC capabilities, validating solutions in pre production, supporting deployments, troubleshooting high complexity issues, and delivering clear documentation and leadership ready recommendations.

Job Duties:
• Lead the design and evolution of a scalable Unified Communications architecture supporting global USMC operations
• Build, test, and validate UC system designs in a pre production environment to ensure resiliency, functionality, and performance prior to enterprise rollout
• Produce standardized documentation, implementation guides, diagrams, and technical papers
• Provide deep subject matter expertise to deployment and operations teams, including Tier 3 support and complex issue resolution
• Drive the UC technology roadmap by evaluating, piloting, and integrating new capabilities
• Ensure interoperability with DSN, PSTN, PSAP systems, voice firewalls, and SBC platforms
• Support Dell and Cisco-based server infrastructure and VMware vSphere (ESXi, vMotion, vCenter) environments
• Partner with leadership and program stakeholders to communicate risks, recommendations, and architectural direction

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience planning, designing, implementing, and administering enterprise UC/telephony systems
  • 5+ years professional-level experience with Cisco Unified Communications, including:
    • Cisco Unified Communications Manager v15
    • Cisco Unity Connection
    • Cisco Meeting Server
    • VG450 and VG420 gateways
    • IOS voice gateways, SRST, TDM, conferencing, transcoding, CUBE
  • Experience integrating UC systems with DSN and PSTN networks
  • Experience with voice firewalls, SBC configuration, and PSAP integration
  • Strong experience with Dell/Cisco server hardware and VMware vSphere environments
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and converged voice/data infrastructure
  • Excellent technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with technical and non technical
  • Demonstrated Agile experience, with the ability to operate as a Product Owner and work closely with leadership to translate strategic objectives into actionable features and user stories.

Required Security Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain a secret clearance

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE Collaboration certification
  • Avaya ACIS/ACSS/ACE/ASTA certifications
  • 2+ years working with Avaya Aura v8/10, Communication/Session/System Manager, G450
  • Experience with telecommunication management systems (CAIRS TMS, VoIP Discovery)
  • Deep understanding of VoIP protocols, including SIP, RTP, and HELD
