Responsibilities
Position Overview

We are seeking a Field Services Technician to support the installation, transition, and sustainment of next-generation Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems. This role is critical to successful site preparation, system cutover, & customer acceptance, and legacy system decommissioning in operational environments.

 

This position requires a highly skilled field technician who can operate independently, solve complex technical issues under time constraints, and work directly with customers to ensure seamless voice system transitions with minimal operational disruption.

 

This position is remote and requires 95% travel. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support site surveys, site preparation, and system installation activities

  • Execute and support VCS system cutovers from legacy voice platforms to next-generation systems

  • Perform decommissioning of legacy voice communication systems

  • Conduct independent system testing and validation to confirm:

    • Power installation compliance

    • Cabling integrity and standards adherence

    • Equipment and site specification alignment

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of VCS and supporting telecom/IT infrastructure

  • Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve voice, network, and hardware faults

  • Support preventive maintenance and system health checks

  • Provide on-site customer support and end-user orientation/training as needed

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, service reports, and cutover records

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, site security, and operational standards

  • Coordinate closely with engineers, program teams, and other field technicians during deployment activities

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years in lieu of degree
  • US Citizenship
  • The candidate will need to be able to obtain a public trust clearance
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds occasionally, push/pull up to 200 pounds occasionally, and stand for extended periods on cement floors. Requires frequent driving, reaching, kneeling / crawling, ascending, and reaching above shoulders.  This role requires rotating shift work, on-site at customer locations and extensive travel.   • Hands-on experience with Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems or similar mission-critical voice platforms

  • Experience supporting system cutovers, migrations, or technology refresh efforts

  • Knowledge of:

    • Telecommunications infrastructure

    • VoIP technologies

    • Cabling standards and power validation

    • Networked voice systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause diagnostic skills

  • Experience using test equipment and diagnostic tools in field environments

  • Familiarity with operational environments where uptime and reliability are critical

#BNATCS Target Salary Range$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
