Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Geologist to meet departmental and operational objectives
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures by team and contractors
  • Implement and execute delineation drilling programs
  • Collect and interpret geological data, including core logging and sampling
  • Determine ore waste boundaries and guide Operations on ore handling
  • Collect and deliver grade control samples to onsite laboratory
  • Implement QAQC protocols and ensure compliance
  • Develop policies for Geological modeling and grade/waste control
  • Manage databases and review production data for accuracy
  • Maintain daily communication with Engineering, Mine Operations, and Contractors
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Mentor and evaluate non-technical staff
  • Support various production activities within the mine as required

About The Role

Position Reports To: Underground Senior Geologist

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the incumbent is responsible for participating in all geological activities related to the development of both Main Underground and Intrepid Underground Projects. This role includes participation in the delineation drilling programs and assisting in daily grade control activities while ensuring operating guidelines are followed. The Production geologist will work closely with the Operation and Engineering departments as well as with drilling contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in conjunction with Underground Senior Geologist to ensure the achievement of departmental and operational goals.
  • Ensure the team and the contractor work in accordance with the safety procedures.
  • Assist with implementation and execution of the delineation drilling programs.
  • Geological data collection and interpretation: Core logging, face and wall chip sampling, and lithological and structural mapping underground.
  • Assist with determination of ore waste boundaries and provide daily guidance to Operations on ore handling and dilution control.
  • Collection and delivery of grade control samples (muck and chip samples) to onsite laboratory.
  • Ensure the QAQC protocols are in place and followed.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures with respect to Geological modeling and grade/waste control.
  • Assist in managing databases and review data for production and reconciliation purposes.
  • Daily communication with Engineering, Mine Operations and Contractors.
  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly reporting
  • Participate in the coaching, mentorship, and evaluation of non-technical staff.
  • Assist in all aspects of production and in other key areas of the mine as required


Qualifications
  • 4 Year University geology program. Graduated Honours degree or equivalent
  • Registered or able to register as a GIT or P. Geo in Ontario, Canada
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Mining Industry
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Strong interdepartmental communication skills
  • Able to change and re-prioritize tasks as new information is gathered
  • Strong ability to self-learn
  • Able to work independently or within groups
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience with diamond drilling programs is an asset


Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $90,000.00 - $120,000,00.
