Description

THE ROLE:

ProbablyMonsters is seeking a UI Systems Lead to ensure the health, consistency, and scalability of UI across our titles. This role audits and de-risks UI implementation company wide and partners with engineering to build reusable, cross-platform UI plugins. The ideal candidate combines strong UI/UX evaluation skills with deep UMG and Common UI implementation fluency and a disciplined approach to documentation. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Fort Worth, TX.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Set UI priorities and delivery expectations across titles, balancing shared UI work against individual title needs.
  • Audit UI implementation across all titles to de-risk UI issues before they become project risks, scaling coverage through vendor partners.
  • Document findings by severity and drive fixes with design and engineering teams.
  • Drive required technical and functional fixes, including accessibility (legibility and contrast, controller focus order and navigation), localization robustness (text expansion, CJK and RTL handling), and platform certification compliance (e.g., Sony TRC, Microsoft XR, Nintendo Lotcheck).
  • Define and enforce scalable UI best practices and standards.
  • Maintain living documentation: style guides, specifications, and usage rules.
  • Partner with the UI engineer and localization team to develop clean, modular, reusable plugins for shared cross-platform UI elements and their localized strings, starting with boot flow, settings, and credits.
  • Interface directly with development partners (1st and 2nd party studios) to integrate the reusable plugins into their titles.
  • Build and maintain UI in UMG (Widget Blueprints, Common UI) and review partner implementations for quality and consistency.
  • Work hands-on in engine to prototype and build production UI, not only direct and review it.
  • Mentor the UI design and engineering staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current, hands-on UMG fluency: Widget Blueprints, Common UI, and scalable widget architecture.
  • Proven ability in UI/UX design or UI engineering, including design systems work.
  • Proven experience building or maintaining a design system across multiple products.
  • Ability to design audit rubrics that vendor partners can execute consistently, then triage and validate their findings.
  • Ability to review and give technical UI feedback on others' UMG/Common UI implementations.
  • Working knowledge of console UI accessibility, localization and text-expansion handling, and platform certification requirements (TRC / XR / Lotcheck).
  • Experience shipping cross-platform UI (console, PC, and/or mobile).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to present direction clearly to design, engineering, and external partners.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with familiarity with the technical constraints and limitations of game engines.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Unreal Engine 5 experience.
  • Experience defining design and theming systems in Unreal.
  • Experience building modular, reusable UI plugins shared across teams or titles.
  • Familiarity with localization pipelines (string management, pseudo-loc, RTL/CJK handling).
  • Experience leading UI across multiple shipped titles.
  • Management or team-leadership experience, even without direct reports..

Benefits:
  • We provide a rich benefits package:
    • Medical Coverage - health, dental, and vision.
    • Healthcare spending accounts, dependent care spending accounts, life and AD&D insurance.
    • 401(k) with an annual contribution by the Company.
    • Paid holidays and vacation, bereavement leaves, and parental leave.

Eligibility to participate in these benefits may vary for part-time and temporary full-time employees and interns with the Company.

Compensation:
  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
  • The full salary range for this position is $117,000 - $177,000 per year. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay, and internal equity.
