Job Summary

Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for researching, analyzing, developing and documenting detailed requirements for operator, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures, checklists, technical specifications, alert bulletins, training materials and other procedures and reports. The person selected will review document specifications with customers to ensure final documents clearly and effectively communicate technical information and data. They will review product systems, functional specifications and operations, and establish safety requirements for assigned systems. The person selected for this role will investigate and analyze project requirements and operating issues, and develop recommendations to meet company governmental safety and performance standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Researches, analyzes, develops, and documents detailed requirements or operator, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures, checklists, technical specifications, alert bulletins, training materials and other procedures and reports.
  • Reads, interprets and analyzes engineering source material such as engineering drawings, software documents, test plans, design specifications/documents, and interviews with technical experts
  • Analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system procedures and design to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Develops safety procedures as necessary to support customer and test/operational requirements.
  • Investigates and resolves problem areas and participates with engineering, operations and maintenance personnel to document technical solutions.
  • Participates in the evaluation, selection, application, and/or adaptation of engineering modifications
  • May serve as the primary contact on contracts and programs.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating practices and procedures. Other duties as assigned or necessary.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree and five or more years of professional engineering/military technical and/or documentation experience. Equivalent professional engineering/military technical, operations, and/or maintenance experience may be substituted in lieu of education/training.
  • Must have formal training in one or more safety disciplines:
    • Aeronautical Decision Making;
    • Crew Resource Management;
    • Human Factors.
  • Must have previous operational experience as aircrew (pilot preferred) flying the MQ-9 aircraft.
  • Must demonstrate a comprehensive technical understanding of aircraft systems
  • Must possess:
    • Ability to develop, acquire, interpret, and communicate technical data;
    • Ability to understand new concepts and apply them in an evolving environment;
    • Strong organization skills;
    • Ability to identify issues and develop solutions to technical problems;
    • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately analyze, document, present and report recommendations;
    • Strong knowledge of computer operations and applications;
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team;
    • Ability to work extended hours and travel as necessary.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required.
  • Preferred experience as a technical writer or other technical documentation field or equivalent.
  • Preferred highly skilled in use of excel.
  • Preferred FAA pilot's certificate.
