The transportation manager is in charge of planning, directing, and coordinating all the activities related to transportation operations within an organization or company. He or she directs activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles. Also has to direct the procurement processes, including equipment research and testing, vendor contracts, and requisitions approval.
Position Responsibilities may include:- A transportation manager serves as a contact point for all workers within a particular area.
- Investigates, verifies and resolves customer or shipper complaints.
- In charge of implementing schedule and policy changes.
- Works with other managers and staff members in order to make and implement policies, processes and objectives.
- Monitors operations in order to ensure that staff members comply with the company rules, safety procedures and government regulations.
- Monitors spending to make sure expenses are consistent with the approved budgets.
- Directs and coordinates activities of the operations department in order to obtain the use of equipment, facilities and human resources.
- Supervises the staff that performs repairs and maintains equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
- Responsible for weekly and monthly reports required by the controller.
- Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

- Accountable for implementation of policies, processes, and procedures for short-term results
- Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from Senior Manager/Director
- Works on difficult to moderately complex issues and projects
- Provides guidance and training to subordinates
- Has authority to hire, recommend pay, establish performance and recommend for termination
- Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines
Knowledge & Skills:- Computer system knowledge and basic transportation skills required.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Be familiar with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Geography knowledge is a must.
- Transportation skills required.
- Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.
Experience:- 5 years of Logistics experience.
- PKMS-MINCRON or MAPICS experience preferred.
Education/Certification:- High School Diploma.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain preferred.
