Position InformationTxDOT Tyler District is looking for a
Transportation Design Engineer I, II,
or III to join the Transportation Operations team. You'll be responsible for planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of critical transportation infrastructure, including traffic signals, illumination systems, signing, pavement markings, dynamic message signs, and other ITS technologies throughout our eight-county district. This position will collaborate closely with local governments, law enforcement, and regional partners to advance district priorities, improve system performance, and enhance safety and mobility for the traveling public.
Salary Ranges:
Transportation Engineer I, B24, $65,104.00 - $106,634.00 annually
Transportation Engineer II, B25, $69,572.00 - $114,099.00 annually
Transportation Engineer III, B26, $76,530.00 - $129,430.00 annually

Position DescriptionPerforms transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer I:- 03772: Develops traffic engineering and traffic management system policies, procedures and standards.
- 06329: Monitors contractors' compliance with plans and specifications.
- 06977: Oversees and/or monitors Community Traffic Safety Programs, activities involving preparation of the District Highway Safety Plan and/or the Traffic Safety Office.
- 08165: Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submission, special specifications or special provisions.
- 08246: Performs data collection, analyses, forecasts and plan development.
- 09754: Provides technical expertise in planning, coordinating, maintaining and operating traffic management systems.

Minimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
Experience:
Transportation Engineer I: 4 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience.
Transportation Engineer II: 5 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience.
Transportation Engineer III: 6 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience.

Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
