Full Job Description
As the Digital Production Area Lead, in the Transportation Business Group, you would be responsible for collaborating with the Digital Delivery Cross Sector and the Digital Design teams, to update and maintain HDR production standards, supporting resources, and documentation related to digital production content. As an Area Lead, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of CAD management and BIM execution plans, enabling seamless coordination across multi-discipline projects. Your expertise in design software and delivery workflow innovations will be crucial in advising project leadership. Additionally, you will lead project production teams, coordinate work sharing efforts, manage project deliverables to meet high-quality standards and develop and train staff in standard production workflows to create consistency in project development and execution.

In the role of Digital Design Project Lead, we'll count on you to:

  • Use knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks including completing design changes, general arrangement of drawing production, plotting, and drafting using BIM/CAD platforms, and 2D/3D model review.
  • Work closely with engineers and senior designers on assigned projects, be able to read and understand engineering drawings and markups.
  • Have an ability to coordinate submittals and exhibits for clients, governmental agencies, permitting agencies, etc. for reviews, approvals, and other milestones.
  • Perform thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for standards compliance and discipline coordination.
  • Be able to handle multiple, demanding, and complex projects in a timely manner with accurate results and perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Work with National Digital Delivery Leadership to assist in development of CAD Standards, thought leadership and establishing regional presence to support growth of Digital Design practices and workflows.
  • Supervise other CAD/Production professionals assigned to the region/area, or as required to support mega projects within the region.
  • Lead, organize, and implement recruiting efforts for CAD/Production staff.
  • Update and maintain HDR production standards, supporting resources, and documentation related to our digital production content.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of CAD management and BIM execution plans.
  • Participate in QA/QC process for all projects focusing on consistency throughout entire project.
  • Train project staff on project specific requirements and processes.
  • Help coordinate project schedules to incorporate CAD production and QC efforts.
  • Preform regular audits of CAD files to ensure accurate and complaint work.
  • Manage a project team and coordinate work with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Explore, propose, and advise project leadership on implementation of design software and delivery workflow innovations across all disciplines.
  • Coordinate and communicate with staff on project requirements and specific project needs.
  • Coordinate the activities of other CAD technicians regarding the application of CAD standards to include informal meetings, organized meetings, and supervision of drawing production methods.
  • Promote and connect users/local offices with training, educational, and communication resources.
  • Lead large project teams in project start-ups and the management of CAD and BIM files and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate work sharing efforts among CAD staff between offices and disciplines.
  • Coordinate with the project PMs to help setup and guide CAD related projects including folder structures, CAD standards, sheet layout and drawing set organization.
  • Coordinate with the PMs the close out of projects including drawing archives and media storage.
  • Improve consistency and quality of both existing and new production content.
  • Manage and lead project production to successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or certification of completion in CAD design from an accredited technical institution
  • Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of developing designs and plans using CAD / BIM software packages.
  • Demonstrated experience in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, Microstation, and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Ability to establish and train standard workflows for the software noted above.
  • Ability to manage CAD standards and workspaces in Common Data Environments (e.g., ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud), with familiarity with ISO-19650 standards.

  • Awareness of current and future artificial intelligence applications in the AEC industry and BIM/CAD, including potential benefits and risks.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for BIM content, data management and information exchange
  • Knowledge and proficiency in production workflows across multiple major software vendor platforms.
  • Knowledge and proficiency for data import/export and interoperability between major software platforms (Bentley, Autodesk, Trimble, etc.).
  • Understanding of reality capture methods and integration of existing conditions data into design workflows.
  • Trained in Bentley i-model Composition Server for printing with renditions on Bentley software projects.
  • Knowledge and proficiency working in Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360, Bentley Infrastructure Cloud.
