Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Traffic Signal Timing Engineer to join the team in Southern California. to assist our team in modeling, developing, implementing, and fine-tuning signal timing in the Southern California region and possibly throughout the Western United States. The candidate will need to be able to combine data, state and local guidelines, and roadway context to deliver operations improvements for all modes of travel.

Role accountabilities:
  • Responsible for planning, development, implementation, fine tuning and evaluation of traffic signal timing.
  • Responsibilities to include analysis of traffic signal operation on arterials and networks, specification of applicable data collection, development of new signal timing parameters based on detailed analysis, inputting traffic signal plans via central control systems and/or directly into local controllers, and design and analysis of traffic surveys to evaluate signal timing effectiveness.
  • Experience in report writing and making public presentations about analysis, recommendations and evaluation results will be an advantage.
  • Additional responsibilities include business development, proposal preparation, project management and budget control.
  • Develop traffic studies and impact reports.
  • Develops documents including project scopes, specifications, schedules, start up procedures, and cost estimates in order to support project work.
  • Routinely communicated effectively with client on increasingly complex and technical issues.
  • Displays flexibility and changes approach or methods to fit the situation.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering,
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in engineering,

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience is desirable with one or more signal timing analysis tools for both isolated and coordinated signals, as well as simulation tools to illustrate traffic operation with signal timing plans.
  • Experience in Q-Free Signal Software and Firmware (Kinetic Signals, MaxTime, and MaxView)
  • Experience with advance timing operations. Experience is required in SYNCHRO and experience with one or more simulation models, such as VISSIM, PARAMICS and TransModeler is an advantage.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $78,415 - $129,385. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
