TRAFFIC PROJECT ENGINEER - Transportation

SUMMARY:

This Traffic Project Engineer is responsible for preparation of both traffic studies and detailed design drawings and contract documents. Traffic study experience should include analysis and reporting of traffic impact studies, parking studies, capacity analysis, signal warrant analysis, and safety improvements. Final design experience should include traffic signal design, ITS design, and street lighting. This role reports to the Transportation Practice Leader.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Independently perform traffic analysis, simulation, and reporting.
  • Independently perform detailed design for traffic signal, lighting, and ITS.
  • Independently perform signing, striping, and safety improvements for urban streets, rural highways, and interstates.
  • Coordinates with other civil engineering disciplines including roadway, land development, airport development, survey, drainage, and utilities.
  • Prepare technical studies, reports, and exhibits.
  • Prepare construction plans, technical specifications, and estimates.
  • Direct designers, Engineers-in-Training, and less experienced staff.
  • Provide quality reviews of own work and work by designers in accordance with Company's quality control program and processes.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings.
  • Assist in developing marketing proposals.
  • Assist in construction administration of projects, including reviewing and responding to contractor material submittals, RFI's, and change order requests.

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge in traffic design and studies.
  • Demonstrate competence in the use and application of Synchro, HCS, and GIS.
  • Ability to mentor and train other Engineers-in-Training and other junior staff.
  • Strong technical writing skills, and ability to convey engineering decisions and concepts to non-technical and technically based audiences.
  • Ability to work within a variety of team environments, including varying team sizes and personnel.
  • Prioritize and meet multiple deadlines.


Education and Experience:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, from an accredited college.
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona OR be able to obtain an Arizona PE license within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum 4-8 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience working in Synchro and HCS.
  • Experience working in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation.
  • Experience working in ArcGIS or QGIS preferred.
  • Experience with both Public Works and Private projects.


LOCATION: This opportunity is in our Phoenix office location.
