This is an opportunity to support a sophisticated trademark group within a high-performing, internationally recognized legal environment known for handling complex, global brand portfolios.
Locations (Hybrid - 3 days in office required)Los Angeles (DTLA), Century City, Orange County (Costa Mesa), Del Mar, Downtown San Diego, Silicon Valley, San Francisco
Weekly Hours37.5 hours per week (hybrid schedule; overtime may be required based on workload)
Compensation$150,000 - $185,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
About the RoleThe Trademark Paralegal will support attorneys in all aspects of
U.S. and international trademark prosecution and portfolio management. This role requires deep knowledge of trademark rules and procedures across multiple jurisdictions, as well as the ability to independently manage high-volume global trademark portfolios in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
This position plays a key role in supporting brand protection, trademark filings, enforcement-related matters, and global portfolio strategy coordination.
Core Profile (Non-Negotiables)We are seeking candidates with:
- 4-7 years of trademark prosecution experience in a law firm (required)
- Strong experience in U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution
- Hands-on experience with WIPO / Madrid Protocol filings
- Proven ability to manage high-volume global trademark portfolios
- Experience in a large, fast-paced Am Law or equivalent firm environment
- ABA-approved paralegal certification (required)
Key ResponsibilitiesTrademark Prosecution & Portfolio Management- Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications, office action responses, statements of use, renewals, and related filings
- Handle Madrid Protocol filings, WIPO correspondence, irregularity notices, and international portfolio maintenance
- Coordinate with foreign associates on national filings, refusals, oppositions, cancellations, and renewals
- Conduct trademark clearance searches and prepare written summaries of findings
- Manage large domestic and international trademark portfolios and monitor critical deadlines
- Review trademark watch notices and oversee monitoring services
IP Transactions & Recordation- Record assignments, ownership transfers, security interests, liens, and releases with USPTO and WIPO
- Draft trademark assignment documentation and coordinate foreign recordations
- Order certified documents and oversee legalization processes
Enforcement & Brand Protection (Key Focus)- Support TTAB proceedings, oppositions, cancellations, and related dispute matters
- Assist with enforcement matters including brand protection workflows
- Support domain name matters, including UDRP actions and registrations
- Assist with customs recordation, IP due diligence, and enforcement tracking
Additional IP Support- Prepare cost estimates and budget tracking for filings and renewals
- Support copyright filings and related recordation with the U.S. Copyright Office
- Assist attorneys with miscellaneous IP and portfolio strategy matters
Enforcement Experience (Highly Valued Differentiator)Candidates with experience in any of the following will stand out:
- TTAB opposition or cancellation support
- Trademark disputes or enforcement coordination
- Domain name disputes (UDRP)
- Brand protection or monitoring programs
Technical & Software Requirements- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Adobe Acrobat
- Zoom and Microsoft Teams
- Experience with document management systems (DMS)
- Ability to quickly learn new legal systems and tools
