Job Description

Trade Compliance & Traceability Lead- US Based

Job Summary

The Trade Compliance & Traceability Lead will lead strategic initiatives for the Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) Team to ensure sustainability, safety, and integrity of Dell's supply chain. This role will own the strategy, governance, and execution of Dell's SER related trade compliance and supply chain traceability programs. The Lead ensures strict compliance with global trade regulations-such as the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and global modern slavery acts-minimizing supply chain disruptions and legal liabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant ESG trade regulations and standards, including the U.S. Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) and Section 307 of the Tariff Act

  • Define, develop, and deploy multi-year SER trade compliance strategy (roadmap, operating model, KPI framework, and program governance). Align program design and controls with legal frameworks, standards, and enforcement regimes, including Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

  • Partner with Legal to ensure defensible interpretations and documented evidence of compliance

  • Ensure consistent positions across disclosures and customer requirements

Program Development & Supply Chain Tracing: Develop and operationalize supplier requirements and traceability down to the raw material level

  • Establish supplier requirements regarding documentation and evidence to meet compliance requirements for investigations

  • Ensure management of ESG trade compliance risks through a structured, risk-based approach that enables timely identification, investigation, and resolution of issues with defensible outcomes; including screening suppliers against global restricted-party lists and maintaining a risk-based mitigation plan with clear owners and deadlines

  • Conduct targeted supply chain tracing activities to verify the origin, movement, and ESG risk exposure of materials and products, ensuring compliance with applicable trade and responsible sourcing regulations. Achieve reliable and decision-useful traceability by ensuring critical ESG-related trade data is consistently captured, validated, and maintained across key operational points.

  • Implement and maintain robust documentation standards (bills of lading, certificates of origin, production records) to support audits and regulatory requests.

Admissibility & Disclosure Management: Prepare and maintain "rebuttal packages" or admissibility documentation to rapidly respond to customs detentions or inquiries.

  • Build a repeatable cycle with clear processes, documented controls and evidence retention.

  • Develop executive-ready dashboards and narratives that clearly communicate compliance posture, residual supply chain risks, and progress.

Supplier Engagement: Work closely with suppliers to ensure they understand and comply with ESG trade compliance requirements

  • Establish supplier performance expectations, scorecards, and escalation protocols

  • Coordinate third-party tracing audits or activities to validate supply chain origin

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Procurement, Legal, and industry groups, to ensure regulatory compliance

  • Represent Dell in relevant international trade and multi-stakeholder forums

  • Support complex escalations by providing clear, defensible explanations of Dell's traceability approach

  • Develop and deliver targeted training programs for internal procurement teams and external suppliers on ESG trade compliance requirements and tracing techniques

  • Stay updated on CBP enforcement trends and global trade regulations

  • Drive automation and analytics improvements to reduce manual effort and increase the scalability of supply chain mapping

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a relevant field.

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in trade compliance, traceability, supply chain human rights, or forced labor due diligence.

  • Prior experience running a trade compliance or forced labor due diligence program for a global corporation.

  • Strong experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or supply chain compliance, with demonstrated exposure to ESG-related regulations (e.g. forced labor, responsible sourcing, environmental trade measures).

  • Experience with advanced supply chain tracing methodologies and tools

  • Working knowledge of global trade regulations-specifically the UFLPA, Section 307 of the Tariff Act - including customs admissibility, origin rules, and import/export controls, with the ability to interpret and translate regulatory requirements into operational processes.

  • Demonstrated capability to improve data quality and scale supply chain mapping using analytics, automation, or structured tracing tools (beyond spreadsheets)

  • Excellent project management, analytical, communication, and Excel skills

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management across diverse cultures and time zones.
