Full Job Description
Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10x faster and up to 2x cheaper. By combining advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we are reinventing how America produces its most critical parts.

We recently raised $260 million dollar Series C to accelerate this mission. We are excited to launch a new Factory in Mesa, Arizona, a 270,000-square-foot facility that will create 350 new jobs immediately. We are opening a new headquarters to support thousands of future hires, launching Hadrian Maritime to serve naval production, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model that delivers complete systems instead of individual parts.

Hadrian works with startups, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, and major defense contractors across space, shipbuilding, and aviation to scale production, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery on mission-critical programs. We are backed by leading investors, including Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz. Our fast-growing team is united by a shared mission to reindustrialize American manufacturing for the 21st century and beyond!

The Role:

We are seeking a Tooling Technician to serve as a cornerstone of our fabrication and automation operations. This is a hands-on, technical leadership role ideal for someone with deep experience in precision mechanical construction, metrology, and cross-functional collaboration. You will help establish and scale a world-class fabrication shop supporting aerospace, automotive, maritime, and defense applications.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the future of U.S. advanced manufacturing-come build it with us.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Fabricate and assemble complex tooling (e.g., jigs, fixtures, tool masters, gauges) with precision, using advanced reference systems.
  • Design and develop custom holding devices, fixtures, and tooling interfaces to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Set up and utilize optical instruments and model-based metrology tools for inspection and alignment.
  • Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to perform high-precision setups.
  • Identify and recommend continuous improvements to tooling processes, documentation, and equipment utilization.
What We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in precision mechanical construction.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with model-based metrology tools (e.g., laser trackers, articulated arms, or coordinate measuring machines).
  • Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), engineering reference systems, and complex blueprint interpretation.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise with bench inspection tools and advanced metrology equipment.
What Will Set You Apart:
  • Knowledge of tooling integration with automated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with building and assembling large, complex fixtures.
  • Understanding of welding processes and their impact on tooling accuracy and tolerance stack-up.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
Benefits:
  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • 401k
  • Relocation stipend if you're moving from outside of LA
  • Flexible vacation policy

About Hadrian

Hadrianadri?ja?n?s]; 24 January 76 – 10 July 138) was Roman emperor from 117 to 138. He was born in Italica, a Roman municipium founded by Italic settlers in Hispania Baetica and he came from a branch of the gens Aelia that originated in the Picenean town of Hadria, the Aeli Hadriani. His father was of senatorial rank and was a first cousin of Emperor Trajan. Hadrian married Trajan's grand-niece Vibia Sabina early in his career before Trajan became emperor and possibly at the behest of Trajan's wife Pompeia Plotina. Plotina and Trajan's close friend and adviser Lucius Licinius Sura were well disposed towards Hadrian. When Trajan died, his widow claimed that he had nominated Hadrian as emperor immediately before his death. Rome's military and Senate approved Hadrian's succession, but four leading senators were unlawfully put to death soon after. They had opposed Hadrian or seemed to threaten his succession, and the Senate held him responsible for their deaths and never forgave him. He earned further disapproval among the elite by abandoning Trajan's expansionist policies and territorial gains in Mesopotamia, Assyria, Armenia, and parts of Dacia. Hadrian preferred to invest in the development of stable, defensible borders and the unification of the empire's disparate peoples. He is known for building Hadrian's Wall, which marked the northern limit of Britannia.
