Tool Engineer Level 2 | Palmdale, California, United States Tool Engineer Level 2 - Palmdale, CA

Responsibilities

- Design and develop industrial tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machine attachments for both production and experimental applications
- Create precise 3D models and detailed engineering drawings with CATIA, following ANSI and ISO standards
- Review specifications, layouts, and customer requirements to support component and tooling design
- Generate tolerance stack-ups, exploded views, and comprehensive manufacturing drawings
- Apply GD&T principles to ensure accuracy and manufacturability of parts
- Design components such as castings, forgings, stampings, plastics, and machined parts
- Support prototype fixtures and testing equipment design activities
- Conduct feasibility analyses and packaging studies to optimize tool integration
- Maintain and update models and drawings in SmartTeam database systems
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews and coordinate with suppliers and customers
- Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs
- Ensure projects meet quality standards and are delivered within established timelines

Required Skills and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (required)
- 2-4 years of experience in tool or component design
- Proficient in CATIA V5 3D modeling and detailing
