Mainframe Engineer | Remote, Oregon, United States Job Summary: Mainframe Engineer (Remote, US) Location: Remote, United States Job Type: C2C About the Role Join our dynamic team as a Mainframe Engineer and play a pivotal role in delivering mission-critical solutions for Asset Services. As a hands-on senior developer, you will lead development efforts, mentor junior teammates, and drive technical excellence. Contribute to modernization initiatives while managing end-to-end SDLC responsibilities in a collaborative, Agile environment. Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain COBOL programs for both batch and online CICS processing - Optimize and support DB2 SQL queries and stored procedures, ensuring performance and compliance - Implement and maintain IBM MQ messaging for secure, reliable inter-system communication - Create, modify, and troubleshoot JCL scripts for job scheduling and batch performance - Collaborate in Agile squads, estimate tasks, participate in sprint planning, and deliver value incrementally - Own features from design through production support, including incident triage and root cause analysis - Uphold secure SDLC and release management processes, including change package creation and production migrations - Mentor and coach junior developers, fostering skill development and engineering best practices Required Skills and Experience - 8-10 years of hands-on experience in mainframe development - Strong expertise in COBOL, Batch JCL, CICS, DB2, MQ - Proficiency in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting DB2 SQL queries and stored procedures - Experience with IBM MQ messaging and enterprise job scheduling - Demonstrated leadership in mentoring or coaching junior developers - Familiarity with secure SDLC, code reviews, and Agile methodologies Preferred Skills - Exposure to modernization/integration projects - Experience in production support and incident management - Familiarity with enterprise job schedulers Benefits - 100% remote work flexibility - Opportunity to work on high-impact modernization projects - Collaborative, agile teams with supportive leadership - Career growth through mentorship and technical leadership roles - Inclusive work culture focused on continuous learning How to Apply If you are a proactive Mainframe Engineer ready to lead and innovate in a fast-paced environment, submit your resume today for immediate consideration.
