Job Title: Thermofluids Systems Engineer

Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Indianapolis, IN/Hybrid (3 days week onsite avg.)

The Thermofluid Systems Engineer is responsible for design and analysis of gas turbine air, oil, fuel, and thermal management systems along with component and/or subsystem thermal analysis. The role supports the entire product lifecycle from concept generation and evaluation to in-service support.

What you will be doing
  • Perform detailed fluid flow analyses of gas turbine engine systems, subsystems, and components using 1-D network analysis
  • Perform heat transfer analyses of gas turbine engine subsystems and components as well as Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analyses in support of fluid flow and heat transfer understanding
  • Support resolution of system-level issues by interfacing with Engine Performance and the rest of System Design, Controls, Installations, Turbines, Compressors, Combustion, and Power Transmissions & Structures organizations
  • Provide technical support to product design and support teams
  • Contribute to their team in defining and completing technical work packages to meet customer requirements
  • Support engine development testing through analysis or on-site test by planning, monitoring, inspection of instrumented hardware (pre and post-test), data reduction, and model validation
  • Prepare and deliver analysis results in formal and informal design reviews
  • Provide direction in diagnosis of thermofluid system related engine and/or component problems and identify and/or develop new and better approaches to the thermofluid system process and guides

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor`s degree in Engineering, with 2+ years' experience in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid mechanics and/or engine design; OR,
  • Master`s degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics with experience in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid mechanics and/or engine design; OR,
  • PhD in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics with experience in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid mechanics and/or engine design

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship

Preferred Requirements:
  • Proficiency in computer programming language such as FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and/or C++
  • Experience in heat transfer/thermals modelling and analysis, particularly related to fan and compressor sub-systems
  • Experience in gas turbine fluid system design, modeling, and analysis
  • Experience with Thermofluid Systems analysis tools (SPAN, SC03, AMESim, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, NPSS)
  • Experience with workflow automation (Preliminary System Design and/or Component Design Systems)
  • Experience in gas-turbine engine development / production / overhaul test analysis and troubleshooting
