Full Job Description
A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Thermal Structural Engineer, you will apply your expertise in thermal-structural modeling, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer to simulate and analyze gap requirements in large gas turbines, as well as evaluate overall engine thermal behavior. You'll be part of a global engineering team supporting both new product development and service-related initiatives.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, component engineers, and cross-functional partners in manufacturing and service to deliver robust, high-performance solutions.

How You'll Make an Impact

Use in-house and commercial simulation tools to:
  • Development/evolution/maintenance of whole engine computational models that simulate thermo-mechanical behavior of components in gas turbines.
  • Simulate transient heating and expansion of the entire engine to determine optimal assembly gaps especially between rotating and stationary components.
  • Analyze simulation results and test data to derive design-relevant conclusions.
  • Contribute to the conceptual design for gas turbines and evaluating operational data and findings from prototypes and the current fleet to support design improvements and reliability.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required; Master's or Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 0-2+ years of relevant experience in gas turbines or cooling air systems preferred; candidates with greater experience may qualify for a more senior role.
  • Skilled at breaking down and solving complex technical challenges.
  • Hands-on understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and mechanical or process engineering is a plus.
  • Experience with computational simulation tools, programming languages, and finite element analysis (FEA) software is a plus.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

About the Team
