Job TitleTesting Operations Supervisor - Automotive Vehicle Testing
Overview / Summary We are seeking a Testing Operations Supervisor to co-lead a 200+ member workforce supporting vehicle durability testing, mileage accumulation, vehicle dynamics, emissions build, brake testing, safety impact, stockroom, and performance testing operations. The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience and a strong understanding of automotive testing, development, and certification processes. This role requires strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and operational management skills in a fast-paced testing environment.
Key Responsibilities - Co-lead a workforce of test drivers, stockkeepers, and mechanics in a 24/7 multi-shift operation
- Maintain current safety protocols and implement continuous safety improvements
- Ensure test vehicles are operated according to testing schedules and compliance requirements
- Ensure drivers and mechanics properly document vehicle issues and potential customer concerns
- Ensure test vehicles are properly maintained and work orders are completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime
- Lead ongoing process improvements and promote best practices to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale
- Ensure drivers are properly trained to perform durability testing activities
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with drivers, mechanics, union representatives, and cross-functional management teams
- Support additional operational requirements, including holidays and weekends when needed
Required Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of related experience
- Previous supervision or leadership experience
- Experience working in a union environment
- Familiarity with vehicle testing and proving ground operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work additional hours, including holidays and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications - Degree in business, management, engineering, or automotive-related field
- Automotive vehicle repair knowledge
- Strong leadership skills with focus on employee coaching and development
- Experience using data analysis to support decision-making
