Job Description

SAIC is seeking an Aircraft Battery Test Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

Job Description:
  • Provide direct engineering support to the Aircraft Battery Programs Special Programs.
  • Provide support to Airborne Battery System Programs. Support will include Program systems engineering support, test and evaluation of aircraft batteries, data analysis, analysis brief development and presentation, technical report generation, test documentation development support, and program closeout requirements. Review all technical documents submitted by this customer Branch to ensure content meets iPDM process requirements before being approved by the Government.
  • Provide systems engineering support, test and evaluation of aircraft batteries, data analysis, analysis brief development and presentation, technical report generation, test documentation development support, and program closeout requirements. The main battery chemistries for Aircraft testing are Lead Acid, Nickel Cadmium, Lithium Ion (Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) • Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LCO) • Lithium Manganese Oxide (LMO) • Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC). There are other lithium ion chemistries, but these are the main one produced in quantity right now. This knowledge can be learned once on the job.
  • Future support will require applying several mission profiles to a combination of commercial off the shelf test systems (Arbin for example) and LabView driven modular systems to perform various mission profiles, which can be learned after starting the position.
  • Support the Government in evaluating, developing, and implementing a variety of big data techniques. The techniques are necessary to evaluate the data sets in order to obtain predictive analytics in tasks to identify indicators of known and emerging failure modes as well as better predict end of life characteristics lithium ion aircraft and space cells/batteries and all chemistries of aircraft batteries.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 or more years' experience.
  • Must have ability to provide engineering support via data analysis and test system operations to the program leads, while also providing Systems Engineering support to manage programs throughout the year.
  • Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.


Preferred education and experience:
  • Knowledge and familiarity in working with LabVIEW and/or Matlab applications, cRIO Real time controllers, and power systems/supplies and associated software development for battery test systems.

Specifically, Wire Harness Design, Firmware / Software Design, Test System Design, Functional Testing, Performance Testing, Environmental Testing, Operator and Repair Documentation, Safety Documentation, Fielding Documentation, Safety Data Package Generation, Data Analysis, Data Plotting, Data Reporting, and Drawing Package Development and Maintenance.
