Orion is NASA's spacecraft that will take humans deep into space. No other spacecraft in development has the technology needed for the extremes of deep space, such as life support, navigation, communications, radiation shielding and the world's largest heat shield that will support astronauts and help return them safely home.

Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor creating Orion. We are in the production phase and have finalized a contract for six Orion spacecraft missions and the ability to order up to 12 in total. The first spacecraft delivered on this contract, Artemis III, will transport the first woman and the next man to the surface of the Moon. Orion is a critical part of the agency's Artemis program to deliver a sustainable presence on the lunar surface and to prepare us to move on to Mars.

This Denver Orion Test Labs technician position includes:
• Avionics, lab components, and harness integration in the Integrated Test Lab (ITL) and feeder labs
• Lab Rack and harness fabrication, modification, troubleshooting, and test
• Property management, equipment calibration, shipping and receiving, facility upkeep
• Full time in-person, with occasional weekend and 2nd shifts

Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions. Exclude technicians working in production or quality assurance.

Basic Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience handling avionics or electrical components and installing into a larger system
• Demonstrated experience working to schematics, engineering drawings, and procedures/work instructions
• Certifications: Mate/demate, harness fabrication, limited solder, and hardware torque
• US Citizenship required to perform the task

Desired Skills
• Demonstrated experience working with test equipment (i.e., multimeters, oscilloscopes, fiber testers)
• Demonstrated experience in anomaly troubleshooting and problem resolution
• Familiarity with spacecraft architecture and avionics and ground subsystems (i.e., spacecraft and ground network, GN&C, telemetry and ground processing, displays and controls)
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin processes and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to deliver products on schedule
• Background in basic computer system hardware components (i.e., CPUs, RAM Modules, PCIe cards)
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
• Background in property management
• SAP/VECAMs and Automation Framework experience
• Certifications: Full solder and crane operator level 2
• Demonstrated experience in soldering

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $56600.00 - $105000.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
