What You'll Be DoingIn this role, you will translate complex energy systems, engineering processes, and regulatory requirements into clear, accurate documentation for a variety of audiences- from technical specialists to community members. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented communicator eager to build a career at the intersection of energy, science and technical writing.
Responsibilities- Research, draft, and edit technical documents including operations manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and equipment specifications.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and subject-matter experts to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
- Organize and maintain a document library, managing version control and publication schedules.
- Support regulatory and compliance documentation efforts, including environmental reports and permitting materials.
- Create and update training materials, quick-reference guides, and internal process documentation.
- Assist with proposals and RFP responses by writing and formatting clear technical narratives.
- Ensure all documentation meets company standards for style, format, and readability.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, STEM, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to quickly learn technical concepts related to energy infrastructure, generation, or distribution.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications- Internship or coursework experience in a technical or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with document management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Notion).
- Exposure to the energy, maritime, utilities, or renewables sector.
- Experience with XML, HTML, or structured authoring tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, FrameMaker) is a plus.
