The selected individual will be responsible for developing, editing, and maintaining a wide range of technical and administrative documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
The Technical Writing Specialist will work closely with HIR and other stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) through the client to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. Deliverables may include standard operating procedures, process guides, training materials, reports, workflow documentation, and other written products necessary to support mission requirements.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Compose IT policy documents from ideation through approval and publishing,
Gather requirements from technical and administrative staff,
Document procedures and technical information,
Draft internal newsletter, FAQs, change support materials, and other content to improve awareness and understanding,
Perform grammatical and style editing on documents,
Drive a collaborative document editing process with Track Changes, comments, review meetings, and asynchronous review periods,
Collect input through surveys and interviews, as well as extracting relevant information from previously written material,
Prepare briefing materials for technical and executive audiences,
Contribute to communication strategies for HIR,
Update HIR Intranet content,
Analyze the effectiveness of communications to recommend changes or improvements,
Collaborate with staff to develop communications for specific groups and/or projects,
Assist in developing communications and training deliverables,
Collaborate with the CAO Communications and Marketing Team to ensure consistency in branding and style, and
Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field,
Advanced degree in English, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or similar is preferred,
Experience writing computer use or similar IT governance policies,
Experience with interviews, surveys, and requirements collection,
Experience creating policies, communications, presentations, reports, and other supporting documents for technical and non-technical audiences,
Familiarity with relevant technical terminology,
Knowledge of Project Management, IT Service Management/ITIL, or Organizational Change Management preferred,
Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of communication plans preferred,
Experience using Microsoft Office applications,
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred,
Experience using an email marketing tool such as GovDelivery or Adobe Campaign preferred, and
Previous experience working at or delivering consulting services to the client is preferred.
