Full Job Description
MD&A's Technical Training & Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs that enhance employee capability, support operational excellence, and ensure readiness across roles. This role partners with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to build scalable learning solutions aligned with business goals, safety standards, and quality requirements. Develops and delivers classroom and practical training related to the manufacturing, maintenance and repair of turbine generator parts, systems and equipment.
• Implements technical training and development policies and programs, which may include training related to the use of computers, computer systems or applications, machinery, or other technical products
• Conduct training needs analyses in partnership with business leaders to identify skill gaps in technical training.
• Design and develop technical training programs and curriculum, including classroom, on-the-job, and e-learning solutions.
• Build structured training pathways for roles such as technicians, engineers, and supervisors.
• Support the development of onboarding and apprenticeship-style programs.
• Coordinate subject matter experts to deliver specialized content.
• Ensure training content is engaging, practical, and aligned with real-world applications.
• Develop training materials, including manuals, SOP-based learning modules, job aids, and videos.
• Maintain and continuously improve training content to reflect updated procedures and standards.
• Leverage LMS platforms to assign, track, and report training completion.
• Track and report on training effectiveness using KPIs such as time to competency, reduction in rework/errors, safety incident trends, and certification completion rates.
• Evaluate training programs and implement continuous improvements.
• Partner with operations, safety, quality, and engineering teams.
• Support leadership development initiatives tied to technical capability.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3-7+ years of experience in technical training, learning and development, or operations
• 3+ years of experience in developing curriculum and facilitating technical trainings in manufacturing, power generation, or industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, facilitation methods, and learning program management.
• Experience administering or owning a learning management system (LMS), including assignments, reporting, content maintenance, and user support.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects, influence stakeholders, and guide the work of team members, facilitators, or cross-functional partners.
• Experience partnering with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify skill gaps and build learning solutions, including technical or operational training where applicable.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships and foster a culture of learning and development.
• Ability to coach, develop, and influence others, with strong leadership and relationship management skills.
• Strong oral, written, presentation, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to influence leaders and stakeholders without direct authority.
• Strong problem-solving and needs analysis skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Instructional Design, Business, or a related field.
• Experience leading technical training, workforce capability, or role-based learning programs in an industrial, manufacturing, field service, or operational environment.
• Experience with learning technologies, content authoring tools, and digital learning platforms.
• Relevant certifications such as CPTD, ATD, SHRM, instructional design, project management, or coaching credentials.
• Experience measuring learning impact and using data to improve performance, adoption, and business outcomes.
Salary Description
$85,000 - $100,000
