Must Have
Precision measurement proficiency (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges; IPI documentation).
CNC Mill operation and maintenance experience (minimum 3 years for Operator; minimum 5 years for Setup Machinist).
Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot G&M code and blueprints (essential for Setup level).

Nice to have
Mill-Turn multi-tasking lathe/mill experience (specifically Mazak Integrex / 7-axis platforms).
Trade school background or vocational machining certification (e.g., Skills Center).

Task Breakdown
Start day with team stretches and morning huddles for job/machine assignments.
Setup Machinists: Receive job traveler and setup sheets; read and edit G/M code; tram in vises, load fixtures, dial in tight tolerances (down to 0.01 mm) using bore gauges; prove out first article and hand off to operators.
Operators: Daily machine checks (coolant and oil levels), clock into jobs, load/unload raw stock and parts, deburr, and complete In-Process Inspection (IPI) sheets using calipers and micrometers.

About the Role
seeks a 2nd shift CNC Operator to set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision machined parts. You will interpret technical drawings, monitor machine operations, perform quality inspections, and ensure all machined parts meet specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work with precision machining equipment.

Key Responsibilities
CNC Machine Operation
• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate machining
• Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency
• Load and unload parts safely and efficiently
• Verify first piece and in-process dimensions using measuring tools
• Maintain production logs and equipment run time records
Quality Control and Inspection
• Inspect machined parts to ensure they meet design specifications and tolerances
• Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for quality checks
• Document and report any discrepancies or non-conformances
• Perform visual inspections for surface finish and quality defects
• Identify and report quality issues to CNC Setup Operator and manufacturing managers
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
• Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime
• Coordinate with maintenance team for complex repairs and servicing
• Clean machines and work areas daily
• Monitor consumables including cutting tools and coolant
• Report equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance for repairs
Material Handling and Organization
• Retrieve materials and components from inventory for machining operations
• Handle machined parts carefully to prevent damage
• Organize finished parts and prepare for downstream operations (welding, powder coating, assembly)
• Maintain organized work area and enforce 5S standards
• Return unused materials to proper storage locations
Safety and Compliance
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of safety in the workplace
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Report safety hazards or concerns immediately
• Support ISO 9001 compliance through proper documentation
Collaboration and Support
• Assist in developing and improving machining processes and techniques
• Work closely with CNC programmers, CNC Setup Operators, and production teams to meet project deadlines
• Provide support to other machine shop personnel as needed
• Communicate with manufacturing teams on component readiness and production priorities
• Provide feedback to CNC programmers on cycle times and process improvements
Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating CNC machines
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Preferred
• Technical certification or associate degree in machining or a related field
• 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with CNC programming and G-code
• Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production environments
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Experience with multiple CNC machine types (mills, lathes, multi-axis)
• Forklift certification
