Job Description:

Microchip Technology develops secure embedded control solutions through Semiconductor sale designs and internal developed products for OEM and Channel sales. The Storage Division (Data Center Solutions) strives to be the preferred partner for storage, memory, connectivity and end-point storage solutions for the world's data centers including AI Infrastructure. We deliver innovative solutions aligned to market transitions through strategic industry partnerships.

Microchip Technology Inc. has a Technical Staff Engineer - Hardware job opening. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading new projects in PCIe 5.0 board level designs for RAID storage controller card. You will work closely with other Hardware Engineers, Software Product Test, NPI and PM teams to bring new RAID storage controller cards from prototype stage to market production.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-speed hardware boards, including schematic capture, circuit-level board design, and layout constraints
  • Lead high-speed differential pair routing and ensure compliance with signal integrity requirements
  • Lead hardware debug, prototype bring-up, and validation of new board designs
  • Implement and support circuit designs involving DDR5, I2C/I3C, CPLD, and PCIe 5.0 technologies
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve hardware design and integration issues during development and manufacturing phases
  • Develop and maintain Functional Hardware Specifications outlining major functional blocks and system behavior
  • Communicate circuit design intent, layout guidelines, and design constraints clearly to the CAD/layout team
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure optimal board layout, performance, and manufacturability
  • Demonstrate strong communication and debugging skills in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • 6-10 of years of experience in Board Design:
    • DDR4/5 circuit design
    • I2C/I3C circuit design
    • CPLD/FPGA Logic design
    • PCIe 4.0/5.0 design


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of AGILE Product Lifecycle Management system
  • Strong Communications Skills
  • Strong Debug Skills
