Technical Sales Engineer

The Role:

The Technical Sales Engineer provides technical support by identifying cost effective solutions for customer heating and temperature control requirements in a variety of unique applications.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Develop engineered solutions for customers through understanding of their applications.
  • Prepare timely technical pricing proposals. Use engineering tools to size thermal heating applications based on specific customer requirements.
  • Consolidate customer application details and initiate quotes on highly complex applications for review by alternate internal engineering resources.
  • Lend consultive engineering guidance across various products lines and market sectors.
  • Provide premium solutions that are efficient and profitable for Chromalox and our customers.
  • Offer trouble shooting assistance on a variety of customer applications.
  • Maintain high proficiency of the Chromalox product line and the underlying engineering principles.
  • Provide a premium customer experience through partnerships and expertise.
  • Act as a liaison between the customer and the organization including, but not limited to, engineering, planning, purchasing, production, credit, and marketing.
  • Drive sales growth through building relations and following up with customers on quotes provided. Identify competitive situations and review price options through proper channels.
  • Verify contract information on the customer purchase order and ensure the organization can meet the specified requirements. Ensure product requirements are clearly defined at time of order.
  • Actively resolve customer's technical and pricing discrepancies.
  • Complete accurate order entry while adhering to price guidelines and published lead times.
  • Coordinate resolution of customer concerns and escalate business at risk situations, as required.
  • Promptly follow up on assigned sales leads.
  • Process requests for customer material returns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Our Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline required; equivalent technical experience considered.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, applications engineering, or industrial customer-facing engineering roles preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate customer technical requirements and recommend engineered solutions.
  • Experience preparing technical quotations, proposals, and product recommendations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial systems such as thermal processes, electrical systems, controls, or related applications preferred.
  • Proven ability to build customer relationships and identify opportunities for account growth.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and consultative communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP platforms.
  • Must be fluent in English (spoken and written); Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support customer visits, site evaluations, and business development activities.
