Full Job Description
Amazon Legal Operations is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive transformative technology initiatives across our legal operations infrastructure. You'll lead the technology strategy for complex programs delivering scalable solutions across Outside Counsel Management, eDiscovery, paralegal operations, litigation program management, and legal infrastructure.

The Role

As Senior TPM, you'll own end-to-end lifecycle management of cross-functional technology programs. Your primary focus will be Outside Counsel Management, partnering with Amazon Legal Tech to build intelligent systems for pricing negotiations, budget tracking, billing reconciliation, and value-added services delivery. You'll champion adoption of generative AI, machine learning, and automation to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and unlock new capabilities across all Legal Operations functions.

Your technology oversight spans vendor management platforms, AI-powered eDiscovery tools, document management systems, litigation hold systems, legal project management tools, automated billing systems, collaboration platforms, knowledge management systems, and continuing legal education delivery platforms. You'll drive integrations across Amazon's legal, finance, procurement, and IT ecosystems to create a cohesive, intelligent technology landscape.

Key job responsibilities

Lead end-to-end program execution for Legal Operations technology initiatives, partnering with Amazon Legal Tech engineering, product, external vendors, and business teams

Drive technology roadmap for Outside Counsel Management, eDiscovery, paralegal support systems, and litigation program management-emphasizing AI innovation and emerging legal technologies

Champion adoption of AI/ML solutions to automate tasks, enhance decision-making, and improve legal service delivery

Lead Think Big processes to identify and plan investments in innovative legal technologies

Partner with Amazon Legal Tech on architectural decisions for complex, large-scale systems handling sensitive legal data and high-volume process management

Identify opportunities to leverage generative AI, natural language processing, and intelligent automation

Manage lifecycle of cross-functional programs with impact across organizations and geographies

Define program strategy including mission, vision, tenets, and objectives; analyze data and drive measurable improvements

Use technical judgment to prioritize projects across competing Legal Operations needs and work with teams to quantify and articulate ROI

Anticipate bottlenecks in vendor onboarding, billing, eDiscovery, or litigation support and proactively mitigate risks

Stay current on legal operation technology trends and AI advancements to maintain Amazon Legal's competitive edge

Legal Operations enables Amazon Legal to operate with maximum efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness through world-class operational support and technology solutions. Our programs include:

Outside Counsel Management: Building long-term relationships with outside counsel and preferred law firms, including pricing negotiations, budget management, value-added services utilization, diversity tracking, billing, onboarding, and conflict waiver reviews.

eDiscovery: Providing technology-enabled discovery services leveraging AI and advanced analytics for litigation and investigation matters.

Paralegal & Litigation Program Management: Delivering paralegal support and program management expertise to litigation teams.

Legal Infrastructure: Supporting technology infrastructure, systems, and processes including knowledge management, communications, attorney licensing, records management, and CLE programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

- 3+ years of software development experience

- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
