Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.

  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) or software development initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience working with cloud billing on GCP or any other cloud provider.
  • Experience with analyzing data to understand trends, and drive process improvements.
  • Experience managing end-to-end execution of complex programs that span multiple engineering teams through the software project lifecycle (build, test and release on time).
  • Experience building, automating, and developing large scale distributed systems from the ground up.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Core on Cloud team governs internal spending on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We own the processes and tools that all product areas and Bets use to manage their $XB annual consumption of GCP resources. With the company's AI transformation, the use of Cloud is growing very rapidly, and our role is to ensure this growth can be managed responsibly. Our mission is to ensure responsible internal use of GCP resources. We work closely with the Core Integrated Software Platforms organization and the office of cybersecurity resilience in supporting the Cloud for Alphabet mission. Our goal is to ensure that there are processes, tools, and product features that make it possible to procure and manage GCP resources responsibly. We are part of Core Finance, and our scope includes governance of GCP spending from all parts of the Alphabet.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google's products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
  • Drive practical processes around how consumer teams will manage cloud resources efficiently and effectively at scale.
  • Work with engineering counterparts to improve GCP Products and consumer side tooling to help ensure responsible and efficient use of Cloud.
  • Perform analytics and other work to create the information to continuously improve how we manage our Cloud resources.
  • Construct dashboards and basic tooling to manage resources.
  • Create training materials to help Googlers understand how to responsibly use Cloud Resources both resource management and best practices for the use of Cloud resources.
