Full Job Description

What You Will Do

As a Technical Product Owner in the HCP vertical, you will sit at the intersection of business strategy, product ownership, and technical delivery. You will work across a portfolio of AI-powered products - partnering with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and vendors to translate strategy into working technology. You will balance the classic product owner responsibilities of vision, backlog, and stakeholder communication with the technical depth needed to guide integration design, resolve cross-system dependencies, and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and audit-ready.

This is a highly collaborative, highly visible role. You will work directly with Product Managers, Directors, architects, Business Partners, and vendor partners, having real influence over how Lilly's sales and marketing technology evolves - including its growing footprint of AI agents and automation.

Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership
  • Partner with business stakeholders and Product Managers to define and clearly communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap for assigned HCP-vertical products.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, translating business needs and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the business on product performance, issues, and enhancement requests, partnering with Ops Support teams to resolve them promptly.
  • Plan and coordinate release cycles (quarterly releases and hotfixes) in partnership with business owners and delivery teams.
  • Collaborate with vendors/suppliers to understand current and emerging capabilities and translate them into strategic product roadmaps.
  • Create and deliver executive-ready updates on strategy, progress, and outcomes to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities where AI and automation can improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and accelerate results for HCP-facing teams.

AI Mindset & Emerging Technology
  • Support adoption of AI, automation, and modern platform capabilities within assigned products.
  • Partner with engineering and data science teams to incorporate AI/ML capabilities - such as predictive models or decision-support tools - into product features.
  • Serve as a hands-on contributor to Generative AI-enabled features and pilots within the product portfolio.
  • Translate model and data science capabilities into clear product requirements and user stories.
  • Stay current on AI and analytics trends relevant to the HCP vertical, contributing ideas for roadmap consideration.

Technical Integration & Delivery
  • Partner with architects and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure technical designs and integration solutions.
  • Define and promote integration standards, patterns, and reusable components across products in the HCP vertical portfolio.
  • Identify, track, and help resolve technical dependencies, risks, and cross-system integration challenges.
  • Ensure solutions comply with Lilly's architecture, security, data privacy, and regulatory (e.g., GxP, SOX) requirements.
  • Facilitate technical reviews and drive alignment across systems, platforms, and technology domains.
  • Maintain technical documentation and support operational excellence through monitoring and support readiness.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to developers, engineers, and delivery partners, fostering consistent technical practices.
  • Operate within Agile/Scrum or SAFe ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives) to ensure predictable, well-governed delivery.
  • Define and report delivery and performance metrics (e.g., velocity, defect rates, uptime/SLA) to leadership through dashboards and structured reviews.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of IT experience, including experience in a product owner, business analyst, or technical integration/delivery role.
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical designs, backlog items, or integration solutions.
  • Understanding of integration technologies, data structures, and system interoperability.
  • Experience with vendor or supplier management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in IT within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another regulated industry, including GxP-validated or SOX-relevant systems.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Boomi, Informatica).
  • Experience integrating major enterprise SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, Veeva, ServiceNow, Workday, or SAP.
  • Familiarity with cloud platform services (AWS or Azure), identity and access management, and API management/gateway tooling.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and SaaS delivery models.
  • Agile/Scrum or SAFe certification or hands-on delivery experience, including ownership of sprint or release cadences.
  • Experience owning delivery metrics and KPI reporting for technical or product teams.
  • High learning agility and curiosity to understand evolving sales and marketing business processes and strategies.
  • Passion for product development, AI/automation, and partnering with business teams to improve outcomes for HCP-facing teams.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, including generative AI, and their application to business problems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.

What You Should Bring
  • Enthusiasm for people, process, technology, and innovation.
  • A collaborative, AI-first mindset and comfort operating in ambiguity across a growing, evolving portfolio.
  • Strong learning agility and a curious mind eager to understand Sales & Marketing Capabilities business processes and strategy.
